Hi,

I just received my Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 15-Chrome / CP714-1H back from service for the 4th Time! Purchased Brand new from Best Buy in September 2024.

Right out of the box I've had issues with the screen flashing on opening, or intermittently.

Also, a usb-c port that wasn't working, freezing, and failure to power up.

Now the screen is flashing again on opening, like a bad connection which they say they've repaired and replaced.

They also say they replaced the Mainboard, SSD Board cables and LCD.

I'm a light computer user, and very concerned about actually stressing this machine and its longevity. If I've used it over 200 hours I'd be very surprised since its been in the shop so much.

Our past experience with Acer has been good, never a return or issue.

At this point I'd either like my over $750 back, or a comparable item.

Any thoughts on how to get some real customer service instead of continuing the cycle of sending back in for "repair"?

Thanks,

TC

As this laptop is still under the Acer 12 months mandatory warranty, you should have taken this laptop to Best Buy and got them to do the warranty work for this laptop, as Best Buy being the retailer, are the only ones that will replace this laptop and/or refund the money to you. Acer Tech Support will not refund and/or replace this laptop, as they only fix the laptop under the normal warranty protocol, as you didn't purchase this laptop directly through the Acer Shop in your country.

What I suggest is that you take this Chromebook Spin CP714-1H model laptop back to Best Buy and tell them to communicate with Acer or their insurance company that this laptop can't be fixed and either replace the Chromebook Spin CP714-1H or refund you.

The screen flashing on opening, or intermittently and the USB-C port that wasn't working, freezing, and failure to power up are not something that can't be fixed with a mainboard replacement, especially the USB-C port, with the screen, its either an eDP cable that is faulty or its the screen that is faulty. So get Acer Tech Support to replace the cable and screen with a new screen as then Acer have virtually replaced the whole laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

These are the eDP cable and screen that you need to get Acer Tech Support to replace.
