Hello,

Can anyone please help me with this?

I need to replace the cooling fan and I have a a replacement fan that fits and is very similar in the volts (5V) but different in the watts (it has more watts: 2,25 watts instead of of the original 2.0 W) - my doubt is what difference will it make? Will it be alright or will the fan/laptop perform worst than before?

Thank you and best regards

    Hi @Skybluesky

Try to get exactly the same model (voltage, watt and pins) fan that you have now, a slightly more powerful fan may cause trouble, not worth it, average cost only $15 (see link below).

Just additional advice, as from experience of doing these service jobs on many laptops over 20 years there is not much difference between 2.0W and 2.5W (I’ve used different spec fans and they work 100%) as the new fan will spin if anything faster and be more efficient and robust, don't worry about such a miniscule difference as the new fan will work perfectly.

I guess it is always a risk. I think I might try this fan and see if it works.

Thank you both for your reply! :)

    Good luck!
