Issues with Predator Triton 300 Charging issues - Disconnecting and Flashing Lights

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue. A few weeks back when charging the laptop and running a game both the battery and power indictor would flash and the charger would stop charging. Moments pass and now the charger seems disconnect and reconnect randomly. Sometimes it is normal for a few hours and then it starts flashing again. I originally thought it was windows 11 that had caused the now persistent issue as it starting more frequently after upgrading. I now have reverted back to windows 10 yet the issue still persists. The battery indicator sometimes flickers also when its charging and a few minutes later it will disconnect normally and reconnect or both lights flash simultaneously.

I've checked whether the BIOS is up to date etc but I have no idea what the issue could be other than the charging cable or the motherboard/port being damaged.

Any help would be appreciated as Acer Customer services just suggest a battery calibration which doesn't work if my charger keeps disconnecting throughout it.

sb21 have you checked your battery wear with hwinfo or battery bar pro  if more than 20% consider replacing it its faulty also if you have a voltmeter check  you adapter voltage to make sure its outputting the correct one and how did you re-calibrated the battery ????  the proper steps are let it drain completely perform a battery powerdrain let it recharge to full while off repeat the process 3 times for a proper calibration good luck :)

sb21 it might have came sorta already faulty from factory to begin with as most ppl do not check for battery wear as most dont even know what that is and sometimes its already faulty out of factory rare cases but might happen as the first signs of the battery not fully charging or the adapter connecting/disconnecting are mainly a faulty battery/adapter.

There is and will always be issues with any mass manufacturing processes being laptops cars mobiles etc... but most probably a new battery will solve your issues just make sure you calibrate it once every 3/6 months depending on the usage you can also try to get that one calibrated as i explained above to see if your wear improves or not :)

For ex this aspire 5 10th gen i have here already came with 25% wear but as a acer demo unit that they have sent to me its normal as it was used on battery for demo purposes for who knows how long but because this si a normal laptop not a gaming ne doesnt matter much not bothered in getting a replacement as i only work with it on AC with mainly the igpu and the mx250 2gb also doesnt use much power but if this was a gaming laptop who needs the extra power to work properly of course i would had replaced it already :)

Thanks for the help, will recalibrate it to see if it improves slightly. If not I will replace the battery

    Hi,

I am awaiting a charger in the post to see if this is the issue. However today I opened the system up and air dusted around the battery and ports and inside the connector and so far this seems to have fixed it slightly. I still get both flashing lights occasionally whilst plugged in and playing a not so hardware reliant game this has happened since purchase though so I guess its due to heat from the charging pin.

    Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for the advice I will download said software and test battery wear. Unfortunate I don’t have a voltmeter but will be receiving a new adapter. I used acer care centre battery calibration which didn’t work as expected so I will do your suggested method.

sb21 noooo dont use care center its useless (i dunno who suggested that to you im hoping it was not an acer support rep lol as if it was omg) the only thing its good for its to see your model number serial/snid apart from that its completely useless :p  but check your battery wear before trying to re-calibrate it  as it might not even be worth it might be already way too damaged :)

I guess acer uses trash batteries :D battery wear is at 29.1%, I’ve literally owned this for a year doing light to moderate gaming, this hasn’t happened to any of my previous gaming laptops. Any idea where to get a replacement?

sb21 have u been gaming on battery only if so theres the issue as the battery main purpose on gaming laptops its to provide the adapter with more power when this one cant provide enough to the cpu/dgpu they were not designed to be used on battery only  if needed only emergency and rally light work or it will get damaged really fast this is what happens with all internal lithium ion batteries you should always use it on AC at all times also you need to provide the full model number in order for us to get the SG to give u the part number you have to look for mine is on AC since i got it in 2018 non stop only calibrated the battery a couple of times ad i only have 10% wear which it will go down to 8.6% if i calibrate it so no acer doesnt use rubbish batteries they use the exact same as all other manufacturers the issue is a gaming laptop needs to be properly maintained its not like a day to day normal laptop if not done properly the hardware starts to get damaged in time   :)

It’s always plugged in whilst gaming, and is unplugged sometimes when doing simple tasks web browsing, Netflix etc. So I’m confused as to why the battery is at a high wear level already since it’s always using the AC like you suggested. Dust is cleaned out every time I notice temperature changes… very odd

After receiving a new adapter in the post, I’ve used it all day and have had no charging issues or flashing lights at all. I checked battery wear and it appears to have decreased. So the adapter was obviously faulty but I will be replacing battery if wear increases quickly over a short period of time. Thanks again.

Yeah i read that but i wondered if the issue came back or if it was fixed completely as it had only been a day. As for the adapter I’m not sure if they replaced the whole thing, the part that plugs into the laptop or the part that plugs into the socket. I replaced the socket end and it didnt fix the issue
