   Hi all
 I have a Acer

E5-573g thats worked fine for the last 6 years till today. The hard drive is totally dead, and wont register in the laptop or anything else  i connect it to. My question is :  are the install files for its operating system on the hard drive ?  or are they stored elsewhere in the laptop somehow ?  Is there any way back from or do i need to throw it away and start again

  • The only way to recover files is to take the hard drive to a company that performs data recovery. It is possible to recover the files when the hard disk fails.

Possible, but pretty expensive. Better for a Aspire E5-573G is to purchase a 2.5" SSD, download Windows from Microsoft and do a fresh install. You will have to reinstall any applications you had previously, but the laptop is still viable. Note though that the Aspire E5-573G is several years old now, using the Intel 5th generation chipset (current is 11th gen, some 12th gen models have been announced but they are not yet shipping and Intel does one generation per year). It is not compatible with Windows 11 so support will run out on in 2025 or earlier.

I too had HD crash on my Acer Windows 7 laptop after about 10 years. I just put a new HD in it and installed windows 7. I'm having some problems though; for instance my Wifi won't turn on when I press [Fn] + [F3] keys like it's supposed too. Anybody have any suggestions?
