Looks like the new fans will be awesome. Finally, they solved the balancing problem, due to which the previous versions of the fans rattled and quickly broken. Was like a bicycle wheel with spokes without a rim
Waiting for the price... want to believe it will not be deep space

Oooh mini led screens, Can't wait to have a nosey at one when I can ! The recent Linus video blew me away at how close they were to the OLED screens  and without the burn in issues as well.

Will be interesting to compare the new pred to the new Helios, and I can't wait to see how the 500se plays. I've been having a read of some of the pre release reviews and ooft it looks to be a powehouse👌 (as someone who runs vm's much appreciated the ram boost!), two thunderbolts with laptop charging , a mini led screen and upto 64 GB of ram is insanely good!

Owner of the previous Helios 500. Here's my feelings about this... This will likely be a great machine. Acer's hardware engineers are awesome. But Acer's customer support is lackluster. You'll get a few BIOS and pre-installed software updates over the next year... and then Acer will just completely forget you and your product exists. At least give BIOS updates a little longer and also make sure obvious BIOS bugs are fixed. OR, if they are going to leave us out in the cold, at least have the last BIOS update unlock the BIOS so that we can handle some things ourselves. This minimal support is really a bad business decision. It seems like a no-brainer: don't alienate customers who buy a hefty-priced machines. Letting an Acer software tester spend a day here and there for testing new BIOS is worthy keeping all the people who bought the machine happy. I don't know if I'd rebuy from Acer simply over their bare-bones support and that they treat the power users buying these machines with kid's gloves (ie locking the BIOS not publishing the repair manual).

All laptop manufacturers have the bios locked due to security/safety reasons as if you dunno what youre doing with the settings that control the cpu/dgpu you will damage the laptop severely even burn components and the service guides are only for service centers engineers to perform repairs, acer staff and us aces to be able to provide the best help possible to everyone including disclosing part numbers when needed so regarding these i dont see any issues here its just normal behavior  :)

Regarding the bios&support i agree with you there could had been more support but as always when a product its discontinued the development stops unfortunately but even so the old H500 either intel or ryzen variant are still beasts wish i could have one :)

I would probably blame the current serious covid situation and the shortage of components all around the world

Just bought the Predator Helios PH517-52 in the UK. Very expensive, I've had divorces cheaper than this! Downloaded Manual, but no links to upgrade/repair manual, which I'm used to with other brands?

After cloning out dumped the 2x1TB Raid 0, for 2x4TB NVME (not raided) and populated the empty 2.5" bay with 4TB Samsung 860 EVO. All good so far, apart from the wife making me turn off all the lovely lighting...

Having changed out the installed 2x16GB ram for 2x32GB Crucial Ballistix 3200  found it was running at 2667.  So F2 for BIOS and... nothing, nada, not a sausage that can be changed????? Was hoping to bump the ram up to 2933 at least, but no options available. The most useless BIOS ever, apparently I'm only to be trusted with adjusting the time and date!!!

So good people, where are links to upgrade/repair manual, and more importantly what "top secret" methods exist to get to "full advanced" settings for the BIOS so I can speed up my ram to it's quoted speeds?

I have zero interest in overclocking/undervolting CPU at this stage, just want ram to run full speed!

Thanks, did as you suggested and replaced the Crucial with 64GB Corsair Vengeance with jedec 3200MHz and just worked brilliantly out of the box.
