Hello! How are you? I have a question about a Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-71DD. So, I plan on buying a new laptop, and there's this Acer, which I just mentioned, and that has a i7-1165G7 and is at a decent price, and has 8 gigabits of DDR4 RAM, but the problem is 8 gigabits isn't enough for me. I wanted to know if I am able to upgrade it, as I just want 16 gigabits of DDR4 RAM, as 8 isn't enough for me. I don't know if the RAM's soldered on, as nothing on google helped, and I'm a bit confused. I'd like to upgrade it to 16 gigabits of 3200 MHZ or higher MHZ RAM and wanted to know. Yes, you can exchange one replaceable 4GB DDR4 sodimm module with up to a 16GB DDR4 module of 2400MHz or higher frequency for a total of 20GB RAM with the non-replaceable soldered 4GB. RAM frequency higher than 2400MHz (for example 3200MHz) will be compatible but will automatically downshift to 2400MHz allowed by the mainboard bus. So don't pay extra for speeds higher than 2400MHz because they will only run at 2400MHz

Thank you! On the website it's sold on, it doesn't specify what MHZ the 8 gigabits of RAM is although, is it 8 gigabits of 2400 MHZ RAM, 2666 MHZ, or 3200 MHZ RAM? Thanks in advance! Also, if it's okay with you, I have a small question. Why would the motherboard not technically support 3200 MHZ RAM speeds?

Because the maximum motherboard bus frequency for communication between the RAM module and the CPU.is 1200MHz or 2400MHz for double-date-rate (DDR) RAM. Doesn't matter if the RAM is rated at 2400MHz, 2666MHz or 3200MHz, the mainboard bus will only allow the RAM module to operate at 2400MHz.
