U.S. @AcerAmerica team is committed to corporate social responsibility initiatives, particularly in light of the challenges many children are facing today with the global pandemic and sudden shift to distance learning. Acer has established a full-year philanthropic relationship with Pivotal in 2020, a non-profit organization that serves foster youth. It has also donated 500 Chromebooks to two school districts to help underserved children get the technology access they desperately need to further their education during this unprecedented time.
Pivotal is a natural fit for Acer, as this non-profit helps young people in foster care achieve success in their careers and lives. While children in foster care are less likely to graduate from high school or go to college, support from Pivotal increases their high school graduation rates by 50% and makes them 10 times more likely to graduate from college. Acer will be providing financial support, fundraising event donations, college student care packages and social media amplification for a number of Pivotal initiatives.
Acer’s U.S. team also took very quick action in March and April when schools were forced to close and transition to distance learning overnight due to the pandemic. Three of Acer’s important education customers, DeKalb County School District, Milwaukee Public Schools and Worcester Public Schools have large student populations with little or no access to technology, which makes remote learning in quarantine virtually impossible. Acer provided 500 Chromebook units to bridge the digital divide for students that have special needs or limited technology access due to poverty.
Acer’s commitment to corporate social responsibility in the U.S. means it will continue to find opportunities to help underserved children pursue their education and succeed in life.
