Asurion messed up my predator ph315-51 laptop

Hi everyone, I have posted in the past about sending my computer in to get fixed due to overheating issues. Anyway, I finally did that, asking them explicitly to change the thermal paste. They didn't do that. Instead they did a fresh install of windows and replaced a "broken cable". Anyway, with that fresh install, I no longer have predator sense, and when I reinstalled it using the application menu from the Acer website it I was met with the wonderful surprise of my CPU fan not working!!! I checked under the chassis and now see the CPU fan spinning gimpily and bouncing around in hapless circles at the a speed I can track with my eyes, easily. Anyway, I'm completely at a loss and could really use your guy's help. If any of you guys have experienced something like this please let me know how you fixed it!

Overclockedmygtx660m i would firstly get them to fix it but its easy if youre out of warranty or dont have any stickers you can do it yourself just get a good mobile phone disassembling precision tool kit some pry tools and some kryonaut or similar use the spread method only a thin layer covering both diodes its enough also make sure to not damage any thermal pads on disassembling they have nothing to do with the cpu/gpu temps only the chipsets but mostly level the heatsink when screwed back in place and the fans/exit airflow should also be properly cleaned for a proper result and make sure to have the back lifted 2/3 inches for a proper airflow good luck

PS: i strongly advise anyone to not use liquid metal as if all components around the cpu/gpu arent properly isolated when/if it drips out will short circuit and burn the mobo (even pros make mistakes)

Overclockedmygtx660m my best advice its for you to send it back again to them asap because if the fans were working fine before you sent it and now they arent they have to fix/replace it its their responsibility to do so good luck

Ok, thanks for your response. I was planning on doing that after some thought. I was hesitant to do this after they messed up the first time, but ultimately it's their responsibility to replace/fix even if they mess it up again. Quick question though, how hard is replacing thermal paste by yourself in these laptops? If I get non-conductive paste is it that dangerous for a first timer? I've watched Hotel Hero's videos and it seems pretty straight forward.

Thanks Xapim. I'm going to give Asurion one more chance to fix it, if not I'll do it myself. I checked and there are no warranty void stickers. By the way, thanks for the tip about the thermal pads, I actually thought they affected the temps of CPU/GPU.
