My E5-575G-53VG won't draw from the battery now

Hello all, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I recently upgraded my ram, added an additional internal SSD, and replaced a noisy fan on my E5-575G-53VG. All of those components function normally, no problems there.

Now i have an issue with the battery, the computer won't run on it. It runs on AC power with no issues, although it constantly has the battery light on the front bottom stay solid orange to indicate charging. The battery icon on the taskbar shows a constant 97% charge, and says "plugged in." I tried uninstalling the battery from the device manager, and it is detected when i rescan for devices so i believe the computer detects it. I tried resetting BIOS, also no effect. I tried the battery reset button while i had the case both off and on, although it doesn't give me that little clicking noise as i would expect a momentary switch to sound like.

I can't think of anything else to try, so any help would be appreciated. TYiA

Ok i fixed the issue. It wasn't that button but the internal battery reset button. I had accidentally crushed it while pressing it. I removed the top half of the button to disconnect it completely, and now it works as expected. Thank you anyway for your help.

Thanks for the reply. I put a bit of electrical tape folded over and made sure that the switch is depressed. There is no effect, it still only operates when plugged in. Unplugging it still doesn't switch to battery, it still just shuts down

Have you checked the battery status with hwinfo64?

That level of wear is very high in my opinion.

Sure, but enough to not run the computer for even a second though? Also it worked prior to me opening the back up

I still think that this button is not pressed correctly:

Try to put more layers of electrical tape.
