Optical drive on G6-720 appears to have stopped working.

I have a Predator G6-720.
Has an internal DVD/CD read/write drive.

OPTICAL STORAGE

Drive Type : DVD SuperMulti
Type : DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM

It has been working great until today.
Last night I watched a movie on it without issue.
Today I removed that disk and inserted a new one and it sounds like it spins up but does not ever recognize the drive.
Windows explorer shows no title, and ejects the drive/disk.
VLC gave me an error that implies (to me) that the laser isn't moving or is dead :

libdvdnav: ifoOpenVTSI failed

[000002caaada5010] dvdnav demux error: cannot set title (can't decrypt DVD?)

libdvdread: Invalid IFO for title 0 (VIDEO_TS.BUP).

libdvdread: DVDISOVolumeInfo, failed to read ISO9660 Primary Volume Descriptor!

Anyone have any troubleshooting recommendations prior to me opening up a case with Acer?

Try to uninstall the ODD driver and check

Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
When the uninstall process is complete , just restart the unit and check
