Bear with me--I'm no computer pro but I've always considered myself good at trouble shooting my own problems. But this is a nightmare and google searching isn't helping me at all so here we are...
I bought an Acer Predator G3-605 off of Newegg back at the end of August and within days of using it, I got this problem where the screen would freeze and be covered in graphic artifacts and then the system would reboot on its own after a few seconds. I upgraded what drivers I could but I would still get this problem after a few hours of using the system. The freeze wouldn't even happen in-game or anything--I would literally just be checking facebook with a download going on in the background and the thing would glitch and freeze suddenly and reboot. Once I just left it alone and when I came back to bring it out of sleep both of my screens were just pure static (terrifying).
So naturally I send it into Acer for repairs. I get the computer back and get it all set up again and I get the same exact problem (even worse this time, see pic at bottom). I literally have no clue what to do! Figured I'd make a post about it first before trying to send it to Acer again for repairs.
The only thing I got on my diagnosis/repair form was that they "softloaded hard drive and tested system" and no parts were replaced.
I've been suggested that my DVI cable could be faulty but is a bad DVI enough to cause a system to freeze and reboot?
My setup is the G3-605 connected to my monitor with a DVI cable and connected to my wacom cintiq with an HDMI cable. Operating system is Windows 10.
Let me know if I need to provide any other information that might help.
All thoughts/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
