Hi,

i would try to change the DVI cable if possible, just to narrow the issue.

Honestly it looks like VGA ram issue.

can you post the graphic card model (VGA) of your system?

I've unhooked my tablet so to connect just the computer and the monitor thru the HDMI (comp only has one useable HDMI port, otherwise I'd just skip over the DVI and just use HDMI all around) and no problems yet. Hard to tell since it's a matter of waiting for something to go wrong.

ok, keep trying with only HDMI hooked and check if it freezes.

Here I am, back again!

So I was usin a DVI-D Single Link cable. Picked up a dual-link cable and hooked everything up and everything seemed to be running smoothly.

But then I got the same graphical artifacts suddenly except this time, it recovered itself on its own? Aside from it crashing Photoshop CC, nothing else terrible happened.

Checked my event viewer and I got a bunch of errors (event ID 13 and event ID 14) plus display warning event ID 4101 saying "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Which is like great! Glad it recovered. But I'm not really down with experiancing a heart attack every time this decides to happen.

Checked my NVIDIA driver and it says that it's up to date.

Also I feel like EVERY time this happens, I'm doing something in Firefox. Can a browser even do something this major? My gut says no, but I felt like it was worth mentioning.

Just kidding--I left my computer for about 30 minutes and when I came back it had apparently crashed and restarted. (yay for losing work)

It's basically gotta be some kinda hardware issue at this point, right?

the nvidia driver is from Acer or nvidia website?

I left the computer running all weekend but didnt seem to have any problems--though this entire time I only had one display hooked up. But this is just not workable option for me as I need the second display (my tablet) in order to work.

I can't imagine my tablet causing the problem considering that I've never experianced any kind of issue while using it with my laptop. (honestly you'd think a desktop would be more capable about this kinda stuff but alas)

Yea, I submitted for a repair this morning through their online service so I could write out everything that has been happening + attaching an image of what I've been experiencing.

Hopefully this time I get a bit more of a repair than just softloading the system.

So I send in the system to acer for repairs, I get it back and the repair reads:

"did extensive stress testing on system for 2 days and could not find any issues"

So I'm like, cool, just me then.

But I still have the same problem. But I ONLY have the problem when my drawing tablet/second display is connected.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

I've never had ANY problem with my tablet while using it with my laptop and that remains true.

But with it connected to this new desktop, the system froze and rebooted twice in three hours.

Having it run for 12 hours without the tablet hooked up to it yeilded absolutely no problems at all.

I need this system to work with the dual monitors, otherwise it's basically useless to me (I got it so to game with friends but I also need to be able to do work).

So I'm lost. Just posting her asking for ideas until business days roll around again and I can call Acer......

Call Acer again and try to give them an in deep explanation.

Probably they did a simple stress test on GPU but it was not your issue.

Has your main monitor an HDMI port?
If so, try to connect it to HDMI without the Wacomm.

I'm curious if it's only a dual monitor issue or HDMI issue, just to narrow.

You can also try to connect your HDMI port to a LCD TV or another monitor, with your main monitor hooked to DVI, this to exclude an incompatibility with Wacomm HDMI.

Hi there again, Ironfly, thanks for your reply.

I did as you suggested and rearranged so that only my monitor was connected, this time through the HDMI. And this time I got the same exact problem that I was having before,

So for the monitor: having it hooked up w DVI had no problems, but hooking it up with HDMI gave me the problem I was dealing with initially. So I'm guessing that it's probably something wrong with the HDMI??

I'll definitely be calling Acer tomorrow and talking to them. Third time's a charm?? Here's hoping.
