My Acer Model: M5-581T-6807 won't charge

cleslyancleslyan Member Posts: 1

Good Evening,

I just bought my laptop about 1 week ago and this is the 3 time with the same problem... or I am not sure if it is a problem or that I am doing something wrong with the Windows 8 settings.

I plug in my computer over night and it charges fine... I take it off charge and use it for about 7 hrs then I have to charge it again... but if I plug in the charger while I am still working on the computer it won't hold charge.  I see the indicator that it is plugged in but after hours I unplug it and it says again that the battery life is at 7% and I should plug it in to power source.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Good day

Update the bios to the latest bios and also test another charger.

    Also try the following:

    - Open the Control Panel Device Manager or write in the search box on the Start menu
    - Select the Device Manager
    - Expand and select Battery with Battery control method for ACPI Microsoft
    - Right click and select Disable

Restart the machine and test to see if it charges

    Regards,

    Freeza

I had this problem with my laptop M5-581T-6807 Win8. I sent it back and exchanged and the new one does the same thing. I updated the bios 2.08 and still the same behavior. If I reboot, it works for a while, then doesn't work anymore. I tried disabling apci as suggested but then you can't see the status of your battery.

Hi, was anybody able to solve this issue? I bought an Acer Aspire M5-581T running on Windows 8 last November and I am having the same exact issue! I sent it to Acer assistance twice but the weren’t able to fix the problem! The first time they changed the battery, but when I tried it at home I still had the same issue. The second time they replaced the mother board but still…..nothing changed!!! I am getting very frustrated…. Their latest advice has been to update the BIOS to the latest version, 2.9. I did that and, again, the battery still doesn’t charge when the laptop is on!!!

Acer Assistance told  me to send them my laptop back AGAIN but I am very skeptical at this point…. Please let me know if you have  a solution, thanks!!!

I've found that having it sleep then waking it back up (while plugged in) will make it charge. I also updated the bios to 2.09 but that didn't help either.

    Acer Model m5-581t-6807

I am having this exact same issue with the computer as well!

Seems that there is a defect in this model. I'm rather disappointed.

I contacted Acer the first time, they sent me another charger. That hasn't fixed anything at all.

I have noticed that it will charge sometimes, but not all of the time.

I am about to be creating an RMA to have this thing sent in to get repaired.. I fully expect acer to drop the ball here, and send it back and it still not be working.
Especially because it charges sometimes, but usually it wont. Willing to bet they will see it charge and just ship it back.

Also, I've had my left arrow key button just pop right off. I wasn't hitting it hard, I had barely had the laptop for a week, and off it came. Checked the forums, many other people had the same problem.

Seems this model is a lemon -_-.. Such a beautiful looking lemon.
