Can clear plastic strip at bottom of T272HL be removed?

I examined the T232HL in the store and the clear strip at the bottom is screwed on to the LCD bezel and can be removed (if, for example, you put the monitor on a VESA stand).  I have not yet found a T272HL in a store but would think it uses the same construction.  Yet my Internet search on this question as it applies to the T272HL yields mixed answers -- some users say the strip can be removed, others say it can't.

 

I would really appreciate hearing either from Acer support or someone who actually owns a T272HL whether the strip can be removed.  Answer will determine whether I purchase the monitor or not.

The plastic can be used as a stand and u can also fold it if you dnt want to use it
