How can I free up more disk space after installing the update to Windows 10?
The Windows 10 upgrade retains files from your previous installation of Windows for 30 days. This allows you to roll back to your old operating system if you do not like Windows 10. These files can take up a large amount of disk space, especially on systems with only 32 GB of internal storage. You can remove the old Windows files to free up space if you do not plan on reverting to your older version of Windows. Use the steps below to remove these files to free up additional storage.
- Type Disk Cleanup in the Cortana search and select Disk Cleanup.
- In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click Clean up system files. If prompted to select a drive, click the drive Windows 10 is installed on and then click OK.
- Place a check in Previous Windows installation(s) and then click OK.
- In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click Delete Files.
