@ Jason,
That's amazing that you haven't had any ghosting. What W700 do you have? I have the i5 version. Do you happen to be running a lower screen brightness, like billsey suggests? The ghosting on my screen has been getting progressively worse, and its a worrying sign.
Regarding throttling. I tried that patch that, "I think", you posted (somewhere?) about 3 weeks ago. And, I don't know if its coincidance but after loading that patch, I can now run F1 2013 (via Steam). Before, it was stuttering and pretty much worthless.
The problem is, that I did a few other things at the same time to try and make the game work. Like, thinning out an quite full SSD, and running defrag. So, I can't say for sure that the patch did the job, nor do I have the knowledge to even know if it was being throttled before, or still is. But, I could clearly see that others are still saying its not right yet.
Cheers,
Bill

PS: I've tried lowering the screen brightness. Even lower than 50%. It didn't help.

Hi all,
from today i'm an "half" happy owner of a w700 used and I have the same problem... First I was thinking about probables damages to the GPU or something like this, but, as I can see, I'm not alone, so it can't be that...
I want to help you saying that I've tried to install all the drivers, first from ACER support (oldest version) for windows 8.1, after from Intel (mid vers) and finally the updated one (Dec 2013) from windows update and NOONE OF THEM SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF GHOST IMAGES.
I've tried also some programs that fixes these problems (like screenfix and some youtube videos) but, of course, nothing happened.
I need to work with photoshop and I shouldn't see fake transparency!
Let me know if someone finds a solution.
Thanks.

I was about to place the order and then I rushed into threads like this (think about "thread-s"), and deal broken.
Not only the burning in problem that's disappointing, the most horrible thing is simply Acer just doesn't give a single **bleep** no matter how many victims are out there..............

I installed all windows updates on my iconia w700 but i still get screen ghost/burn broblem.
It's not getting worst but still have it. I don't know how to fix it.
It look like acer technical team doesn't help people about this critical issue.

I noticed just yesterday that Im now getting the same ghosting when hooking up the tablet to my TV via hdmi cable.
Definately seems to be non-screen related.

I purchased my W700 the end of May, I updated to Windows 8.1 and did all the driver updates on the support page. Everything was fine.
About two weeks ago I did a factory reset (or tried) because I had not updated the Bios from 2.13 to 2.14. My factory reset failed because of the recovery discs, I ended up ordering a USB recovery. Yesterday I managed to get the tablet back up and working, updated the bios, updated to Windows 8.1 and did all the drivers. Within minutes I noticed this ghosting.
The tablet did not do this before and the only thing I really changed was updating the Bios to 2.14.
Does anyone else believe this is the cause of this problem? If so; is it possible to downgrade the bios back to 2.13?

The screen ghosting is normal, but can be minimized by setting the brightness down a bit.

No its not normal, and posting that comment is ignorant!
This is an expensive tablet. I used it for over a month with no ghosting until I did a factory reset. Something is different either a driver or the Bios Update. Regardless; its an issue and it absolutely should not be fluffed off the way it has been!
When I purchased the tablet no where on the box did it say the screen has a bad ghosting problem and if I want to minimalize it I will need to keep the brightness low. Do you think I would have purchased this peice on junk if it did?
