Well sent mine back to Acer uk on Monday and I have now got it back. Very quick if you ask me ![]()
On the repair slip I got back it states:
Fault: Touchpad not Working
Answer: DOA Repair
Diagosis/Repair Details: Touchpad has been replaced.
Part Number: 56.L0MN.001
Dec: Touchpad BD.W/TP.Cover.MYLAR
Time willl tell now so I willl report back, but overall it was a quick turnaround and given that I would say they knew what the issue was and it is idd hardware... So given that, I kow its a pain as its our new baby but you may have to bite the bullet and send it in for a peace of mind resolution to this issue.
Fingers crossed it's ok, I hope they would not just replace a fult with a fault lol

Hi Guys,
I would like to share my experience! So far I've had this hybrid laptop/tablet for 4 days and I loved everything about it except for the erratic trackpad behavior and the crapware software that was installed with the device. To fix the trackpad issue I did what was mentioned in the forum about pressing down hard over the trackpad until you hear a click.
As for all the crapware that was installed, I created a Windows 8 PRO UEFI usb boot disk and re-installed a fresh copy of Windows PRO. To successfully accomplish this, I had did the following
It now works like a charm and I have 50GB of free space rather than the 30GB left because of all the Acer Recovery tools! Dock, Trackpad, Wifi and everything work perfectly and I can now use this wonderful device on a domain or install Windows Media Center! Voila!
I hope this helps someone!

Hi, looking at ddevice manager, do you sseee unknown devices? Usually, there is a question mark at left that show that you have missing drivers.
Thanks,
Ccote

For what it's worth some combination of rudk's trick and the new drivers from the website have completely eliminated the issue for me. The dock is now actually usable. Yay!

You're lucky ^^
Did the trick, and I had the problems back... So I got a reimbursement for the tablet and will try another brand... Or will wait to be sure the new units are free of this issue.

So over a day with it back from being repaired and no erratic touchpad yet ![]()
All i would say is that if the click fix was indeed the soloution i doubt Acer would be replacing the touchoad with new units.
It a great device, live without it a week or so and send it to Acer to be fixed as per Acer mods suggestion in this topic.

indeed this tablet is lovable... The right size, the right dock, the right OS, everything is right about it... that's why I bought it in first place despite the really bad image I had of Acer products... And this problem on so many units (every unit I tried in store after I bought mine online has the problem) about a so trivial thing as a touchpad (well, it's not a new technology, it's not even multitouch...) is not for make this image any better...
BUT Acer are the only company to create the RIGHT product for me... I'd love to see an Asus / Samsung / HP / Dell / Lenovo equivalent... But they're too dumb to do it. So I think it'll be Acer all over again for me but only when I'll be sure the touchpad problem doesn't exist anymore (I really hope the new models manufactured at this time are problem-free...)...

When I send the W510 back to acer for keyboard repair, do I use the original box? Will I they send it back in my original box if I use that?
Thanks,
Nick

My understanding is that you will not get the box back, there were earlier posts on the forum saying this
