My W511 works well on mobile broadband but the Huawei software does not reconise that there is a sim in the tablet so I can not send sms messages to top up my account.

Any ideas?

Is there other sms software that I can download?

Sorry, but that would need to be addressed through the carrier.

It is not something that Acer controls or can help with.

Thats a bit of a sloping shoulders answer!

Why will the software not reconise a sim card that is working?

Is there a different software I can download that will do the job the installed ne is supposed too?

Once again, Acer does not have anything to do with the SIM card or the software on the system for the carrier.

You need to speak to your carrier with issues regarding the SIM card.

It's the software provided with the tablet I am having problems with.

Who would I speak to about that?

Your carrier. The software provided on the tablet for WLAN use has been added to the normal tablet build by your carrier. That's why it's carrier specific.

The Huawei sms software came with the W511 as standard.

The tablet was bought in England, unlocked and not tied to any carrier.

I am in Afghanistan and using a Roshan sim card.

The tablet will access the internet through the Roshan sim without any problem but the only sms software (Huawei) that comes with the tablet can not see the sim.

Because of this I can not set it up to work via 3G.

In device manager it says Huawei Mobile.

The short cut says Mobile Control.

As it can not find the sim card there are no settings that i can find to change.

If device manager shows the Huawei installed with an ! or x, then the drivers are there and should be OK. Are you sure the SIM card is good? Have you tested it in a phone? I don't know my way around the mobile data cards to offer many suggestions, though I suppose the driver build is set to only support certain area. I can't think of a reason why though!

Device manager says it is working correctly and the sim works in a phone.
