Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

@Cory:

The store only gave me 7 days for replacement warranty. I encountered the problem on the 7th day(almost midnight)!!! Good thing the store still honored my request to replace my unit with a different item. They only gave me few hours to decide. Afraid that the window button issue might be a HW issue then i had to make the right choice.

Well, all i can say is.. your response is just too late :smileysad: such a pity.

Understood. It is unfortunate that we put you in a position to have to make a decision like this on your new product and I apologize that we couldn't get this information out to everyone quicker.

Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

Ok, so you've finally found the root to the problem, so we don't need to worry about getting the tablet back from service with the same issue still present?

And may I ask which faulty part that causes this issue? So we know what is expected to be exchanged.

Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

Good news and considering to re-buy the tablet. However in addition to the questions from nojah it would be good to know an expected away time. Is it something that is going to be solved quick or is it likely we have to wait for replacement parts which might take days or weeks to arrive?

Still, thanks for the update and I will probably try a new one knowing that it will be repaired if it turns out to be faulty.

From what I understand the issue is with a cable, if they replace it with one that allows for slightly different routing then the issue is fixed.

Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

[ Editado ]

Well, I already returned mine to the MS/Store.  But when they start selling the SW5-012-17B2 model, with the windows key on the side.  Because I'm sure that the placement of the w-home-button, near that magnatic lock is the issue. And that's why they(ACER) moved it.  So, I'll just wait on that unit.

Everything else about the SW5-011 unit I had not issue with, it was fast, didn't drop wifi. Connected quick. I had a lenovo Yoga 11S w/i5 Processor,  this ACER was much fast than it was so.  Yes, if they start selling any of the Sw5-012 units, sometime soon, I'll buy one of them, but I'm staying away for all the SW5-011 units.

So for now, I'll just have to cuntinue working my the ASUS 15.6" LAPTOP.

if only i was allowed to have a full refund instead of a replacement then i would have waited for the fixed switched 10 version similar with kjwhite.

Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

Hi all,

As I returned the tablet within the two weeks refund period I was able to buy another tablet.

I was thinking to buy a new SW5-011 and send it in for repair as soon as the problem appeared. However while looking for information on the SW5-012 and the best available price I found a shop in the Netherlands that offered a SW5-012.

Went to see if they really had the tablet and guess what. They do.

Long story short, I am writing this on my brand new SW5-012.

Resolution 1280*800.

2 GB ram

Windows 8.1 with bing (one year subscription to Office 365 personal)

2 MP front facing camera

Gorilla glass 3.

AND a home button positioned on the right side of the tablet.

The volume and power buttons are also placed on the right.

No capacitive window logo on the front just as the pictures on the Acer site indicate.

Re: Button issues with Acer Aspire Switch

:smileytongue: Yea.. Good News..   Now that I know it doest exist, I can wait a few more weeks, if not sooner, for it to make it to the states. Once it does I'll re-order the updated version SW5-012 version .

Ahzriaz - Thanks for the update.  That is really good news..

The resolution is sort of a downgrade.
