Still no word from Acer.
In the meantime, I talked to the store who sold me the Switch and they offered to return my money.
I've bought the Asus T200 (10 inch was a little bit to small for me) and no button problems here! I hope that the rest of you can find a similar solution, so that we can all enjoy a device that actually works...

Well, much like yourself, I contacted the MS Online Store and got a RMA, to return mine as will. No word from ACER to me means, they don't care or they are not willing or either they simply can't resolve the issue.
I think with the sale of my Yoga 11S and the return of the ACER SWITCH 10. I'm just going to save a few more bucks and purchase a Surf 3 Pro w/I5 and 128G, and the slap on keyboard w/back lighting in the coming months.
I just wish it had a SIM Card Slot. That would make an awesome package.
To everybody that still has a SWITCH 10, I wish you all luck.

I sent mine back to the shop.. I had a very hard time reproducing the problem while i was there so i decided to leave it. They agree to replace my switch 10 with a different item if they find it defective.
I know the problem is intermittent but are there known steps we can do so it can easily be reproducible?
Also, can you help me suggest what item should i replace? Thanks in advance.

Hey
I had this problem too
so I thought why not ask the acer support if its already fixed so they told me i should bring my tablet to the acer support service
so i thought why not just disable the windows button on the tablet you dont really need it.
I again asked the acer support but again they werent able to help me so i went to the #windows channel on quakenet irc network and asked there
after a few hours trying to disable the drivers etc. (what actually worked but disabled the volume and power keys too) someone came up with a tool called "SharpKeys". http://sharpkeys.codeplex.com/ It allows you to change button functionality
so now my windows key does nothing and my application key (between Alt Gr and the arrow keys) acts as a windows button.
its not the best solution as you have to use the charms to get the start in tablet mode but its better than having the volume buttons making screenshots and enabling the narrator

Hi, I had the same problems with the SW5-011 model and have returned the device for a refund. I'm now thinking of buying the SW5-012 but wanted to check if anyone knows whether it has a capacitive windows button. The pics on acer website show no button but pics on dabs show it with a button http://www.dabs.com/products/a... . Can anyone shed any light? Cheers.

HiJBreeden,
See http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/aspires
You can download the user manual for the SW5-012 here: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
See 'document'. This learns us that the Start button is placed on the side of the tablet.
So the SW5-012 does not seem to have a capacitive windows button. It probably just is a picture from the SW5-011.
Yet nothing announced by Acer so who knows...

So, when the new version came out, there should be a recall for every user of the older one who has problems with capacitive button and we should have our devices replaced for the new ones.
After a month of usage, I have also noticed a little play on magetic conncetor when the tablet is attached to the keyboard so the display slightly rocks back and forward. Am I the only one?

Thanks Ahzriaz, good to know. I think DABs is an old picture like you say and they have now moved it to fix the problem (at least I hope so)

Update:
So the store finally able to reproduce the problem and granted me a replacement. I switched to Asus T100 to get away with the problem.
I really love the switch 10 compared with my T100 as ZeroGap technology really enhances user experience. But unfortunately it looks like the technology is the culprit of the window home button issue.
Maybe in the future if Acer releases a newer and faster version of switch 1 0and of course ISSUE FREE the i would consider buying it. But right now, im plainly satisfied with my T100 ![]()

Hi Everyone,
Please allow me to apologize for our lack of communication on this issue. I want to ensure you that we’ve been working hard to completely address concerns with the involuntary Windows Key activation you are experiencing. Again, we strongly urge you install BIOS v1.05 as it is designed to improve the sensitivity of the Windows Key. After doing so, if you continue to experience these symptoms please contact your local support organization to arrange for a repair. In the past week, we've confirmed with our repair organizations globally that they are now prepared to perform repairs designed specifically to address this issue.
Thank You,
Cory
