I got tired of waiting around for Acer and bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 instead ($449) - better cpu, 4 gb ram, 500 gb hdd - but hd is definitely slower than ssd
Overall a much better product at just a slightly higher price.

So I wiped my screen down with an alcohol wipe and the problem has stopped. Since then I have ceased to touch the Windows capactive button, just in fear of triggering the problem again.
I've got a week and half left before I can take it back to Best Buy.
Anyone have any theory on to why the Windows button is acting haywire? Software or Hardware issue?

I think this will be a hardware problem. I am somewhat able to reproduce what Tweety3187 mentioned a couple of posts back:
I am somewhat able to reproduce this back and forth switching between desktop and start screen by holding on to the part of the dock that is attached to the tablet with one hand and gently "bending" the tablet to the back with the other hand (holding onto the top of the tablet). Everytime I do this, the windows key activates once (or twice, or three times).
Still, some proper acknowledgment of the problem and advice on how to proceed from Acer would be nice.

Hi omnikr0n,
Please see my post here: http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-Tablets/Butto
If you've tried the BIOS update and it did not resolve your issue, Acer suggests contacting support so that our repair team can address this.
Thanks,
Cory

Cory,
thank you very much for the clarification. Could you please confirm if (in the case a BIOS update does not mitigate the issue) it is indeed a hardware problem?
Julho
Yes, if the BIOS update does not provide relief by improving the sensitivity of the button, the next step would be to replace the board that controls it.

Good to finally hear that there is a sollution to the issue, but since it is such a common problem it would be nice to see something about in the "Alerts and Recalls" section of the site?
And is this issue known world wide by your support personel, in my case in Sweden, so we don't send the device for service and get it back with a "No Fault Found" notice?
Julho
Solution? I don't see a solution, only a faint admitting that this is a faulty hardware issue. The solution to that is a recall, which has not been announced. A solution would be an acknowledgement that the hardware is faulty and that Acer is now building corrected units and offering replacements for all units affected.

Hello
just found this in the german forum. Someone had the same problems, gave his switch to the support and after returning the problems were gone. As he wrote, he has no more problems within one week. In the repair report they wrote, that the touchpad panel was changed and they updated the drivers.

Thank you for the information, but I don't think the two are related. This thread is related to the Windows (touch) button on the tablet itself while the thread you've posted deals with dock and touchpad issues.
