Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

I may be wrong with the driver versions, but I think the latest official driver from Acer is .218 (no direct download, only through Live Update), and the unofficial (Atheros) driver is .221 or .222.

I've personally tried the unofficial .218 (haven't had the chance to try the official one) and it did help with the situation, but I've had the most success with the .221. I think I'm may be on repeat, but unlike how you normally would update a driver, this tablet seems to repond much better if you uninstall ALL prior wifi drivers (Device Manager) and Atheros software (Program Uninstall) before updating to the new wifi driver/software.

No guarantee that it would fix your wifi issue, but I personally had all kinds of problems with wifi performance on stock driver and became much more acceptable after updating to .221

BTW, our Wifi/bluetooth combo card is the as the one in the Aspire S7 (correct me if I'm wrong). This is a great post for those who are new to this Wifi problem.

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

Hi guys. Some days ago I was about to buy an Ainol Novo 9 (low-cost android tablet) but I read on their official forum that it had some kind of problems with the Wifi. These problems turned out to be exactly the same as ours. In that case, it wasn't a matter of drivers, it was a matter of hardware. The wifi antenna was kinda loose, so they had to open the tab and fix it.

As some people said here some months ago, i bet the W700 wifi problems which are not fixed by new drivers are caused by a loose antenna.

I think the ones who haven't been able to fix their wifi issues by updating the drivers should start to think about opening the tablet or shipping it back to get a new unit...

Bye!

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

A new driver has been posted in the driver section on acers site. Wireless LAN_Atheros_10.0.0.225_W8x64_A.zip.

It was posted on March the 3rd 2013

Why is the lan driver 226 megabytes?

[ Editado ]

probably it's a combo Wifi+Bluetooth. That's why it's so heavy.

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

I installed the .225 drivers posted on the web site last night.  My wifi lock up after putting the W700 to sleep appears to be resolved, which is huge.  My wifi throughput is also way better,

Haven't tried my BT keyboard or mouse yet.

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

Hi. Even after updating with the latest drivers I get "limited connevtivity" very often eventhough i have a full signal. Do we have any news on that? Is it a hardware or software issue?

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

Just sent my brand new w700 last week to acer after both challanger and myself fussed over the driver for 3 hours to no avail.  challanger exchanged my old one with a brand new one and went...it is what it is..so far, acer has sent identified it as a hardware issue and has since ordered in replacement part for the tablet.  So...draw what you want from this, but i am guessing that if you have got issues with signal i.e. poor connection even at 4 bars, then send it back to acer to have them look at it.  I have told them to provide me with a detailed report of what has actually gone wrong and i will post it up when i get it back next week.

Not too sure which batch is effected....maybe test before you buy? just walk to a point its 4 bars then see how much connectivity its dropped
