Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

Hmmm. I have no problems using the tablet without the keyboard or BT audio, but as soon as I use one or a combo of both, I very quickly begin to have the WiFi connectivity problems.

I wonder why my driver is working so well for me...but there have been people here who said that update did nothing.

The update doesn't seem to work or work well if the previous driver and software has not been completely uninstalled, I have found this to be the case for me personally. But I also turned off all WIFI power saving feature from both the power profile as well as device manager just to be safe.

How do you uninstall the Bt drivers? Every time I uninstall them on the Device manager, the next time I open the Device manager the drivers appear again.

Uninstall Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite first. Then proceed to uninstall Bluetooth USB Module and delete all previous drivers from Device Manager. The bluetooth driver should now be completely uninstalled. If you see the bluetooth usb module again, it's only a generic Microsoft driver. Then you can go ahead and install the new bluetooth suite.

We dont' remove solutions, as they are generally applied  by the person asking the question.  This change of status is more for the benefit of forum members who can find resolved threads easier through the search function.

Does anyone else think this is a cop out? This thread clearly isn't resolved.

No, I prefer the person asking the question decide if its resolved - not Acer. So, the way they have it now is fine. The fact other people continue to have the issue is obvious but that doesn't take away from the fact that the solutions mentioned here have fixed the issue for some people. At least they think its fixed and its up t them to decide - not Acer.

Re: Acer Iconia W700 Wi-Fi problem

My wifi works great out of the box when I'm closer to the router, but has issues when I'm further away from it. However, I'm having issues updating the drivers for it. When I uninstall the device and the driver and search for it, nothing comes up. Once a generic network device did appear, but even when selecting the driver update folder, wouldn't let me update the drivers. There is no .exe or anything in the driver folder to run either. Any suggestions on how to proceed with this?

This is flawed, this isn't an individial problem; it is widespread. Myself and others cannot start new threads about this to be marked as "unresolved" because they would be duplicates and be replicating the same information.

Also, from a common sense point of view, a thread discussing a serious issue that lots of people (the majority) still have being marked as "solved" is misleading, incorrect and unhelpful.

I do totally understand your point of view though.

Download the newest driver from Acer support for the W700 tablet. Unzip the contents of the download file.

Proceed to Control Panel>Uninstall a Program; then the Uninstall Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite.

Then proceed to Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Device Manager:

1)Expand the Bluetooth listing; then right click Bluetooth USB Module and choose Uninstall.

2)Expand the Network Adapter listing; then right click "Qualcomm Atheros AR5BMD222 Wireless Network Adapter" and choose Uninstall.

Both the WiFi and Bluetooth drivers should be fully uninstalled (if you see the bluetooth usb module repopulate Device Manager again, it's ok as it is only a generic Microsoft driver).

Restart the computer.

Run the Setup.exe file in the WLAN_Atheros_10.0.0.217.v3_Win8x64 folder from the device driver download.

Restart the computer.

Please test the computer for at least a day and reply back to the thread here and let everyone know if it fixed your issue.

There is no .exe in the driver folder, however.
