I just got my W700 yesterday and having read these comments I was worried about how usable it would be without a fix. I installed the latest drivers. My house has an enclosed loft in the upper level where my router is. It also has a main floor and basement. I took my iPad and W700 to the main floor and tested the download speed. The W700 was consistently better than the iPad. I then went to the basement. The W700 lost the signal entirely while the iPad could still download.
Its strange that it would be so good and drop off so quickly. However, this is much better than some of the earlier posts were reporting. I figure the recent driver(s) has improved but not fixed things. It explains why some people don't have a problem - depends how far they are from their router and probably their router strength. My router has an amp on it. While I look forward to a fix, it's very usable for me all over my main level without dropouts. So, for me it's a keeper![]()

Try to stream audio to a bluetooth headset/speaker while using the bluetooth keyboard. That seems to be the ONLY way my WiFi goes into limited (aka useless) status. Unfortunately, I intend using my laptop/tablet with a headset and the keyboard all the time.

Haha. Very good one. Can you believe no one from Acer monitors this forum?!?

I don't have a Bluetooth device here now to test it - except the keyboard. It's not a problem when using the keyboard. I remember from another forum someone had problems because they didn't delete the old Bluetooth driver when they deleted the old wifi driver before updating. Just a thought. Bluetooth frequency is different from router frequency so it shouldn't be interference. I would try deleting both drivers and reinstalling - nothing to lose.

With the latest 221 driver I actually get pretty good connection strength and speed, but with the use of bluetooth devices (keyboard, mouse) the speed gets much weaker. So when I have it dock using it as a semi-desktop, I just have a WIFI dongle for connection until it is fixed. Otherwise the WIFI is actually pretty good with the new driver.
I have made an observation when I got into the internals while replacing the mSATA drive. The antenna connector to the WIFI Bluetooth card doesn't snap into slot like other wifi cards that I've seen. The connector came loose on me when I was making the SSD swap and didn't notice it came out at all. The my WIFI became horrible as it was extremely extremely slow while in the same room as my router, and dropped connection (shows could not connect to the network) the moment I walk out from the room, which confused me since a click on the network icon shows full bar strength. A revisit to the internals showed that the WIFI antenna connector had came loose and a reconnection made the WIFI much more usable.
For those of you who have replaced you SSD and have WIFI problems, the antenna connector could be a place to look. For those who have not, I hope a loose antenna connection is not the cause, and something software that could be fixed with an update, because openning up the tablet is really a pain in the ...

Interseting...it appears that I had forgotten to uninstall the atheros bluetooth suite and bluetooth drivers when I did the update. Upon a clean up re-install the bluetooth speed issue has now gone away 221/214 combo (for now)

I don't know if this counts, but I am using the bluetooth keyboard with an iHome bluetooth mouse, and I can stream in 720p video whilst typing and clicking. Connection always outruns the video. I can't try 1080p because my home internet just isn't fast enough.

Hmmm. I have no problems using the tablet without the keyboard or BT audio, but as soon as I use one or a combo of both, I very quickly begin to have the WiFi connectivity problems.
