Please, read carefully Acer's message. They say they will make a new version AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, not before Jan 8.
When they talk about Jan 8, they mean that none of the drivers downloaded BEFORE Jan 8 have fixed the issues.
All the people who are claiming they have solved the issues, you have solved the dropping issues (I solved them with the first driver...), but what about the low speed issue when wifi signal is lower than 70%? That was the main problem, not the droppings! Droppings had already been solved for most of the people.

My version is not the most recent release. However, my friend, whom I helped with this problem, is not having any more issues, and he is using the most recent version.
Not to sound like an Acer shill, but most companies face these issues in some form, and often get the same response some of us are giving Acer. It just happened to be Acer that you bought from. If it were Samsung, you might be complaining about the troubles of their stylus and their terrible support.
Then again, it's working for me, so I can't exactly share your pain. 😝

So, for what reason they mention the download before Jan 8?
"For notebooks only, an interim driver will be available to resolve the issue. This driver will be available by Jan. 8th, 2013." -> Okay, where is this driver? Since it's the same hardware, why won't it work for our tablets? I looked for a driver in the Acer Aspire S5/S7 section (which have the same WiFi Card) and only the 217v3 driver can be found.
Sorry, I'm raging a bit right now, because none of the drivers provided by Acer, Atheros or the russian site stopped my connection drops for good and no new driver is available. I still have some days left to give the tablet back, which I will, if the WiFi doesn't work, so i need to know if a new driver will fix it.
According to their delivery dates (at least in Europe), we get the new driver March-April at the earliest.
And sorry again for bad english.

Thought I'd try one last roll of the dice and talk to care - only I couldn't because none of my device ID numbers were recognised. What a terrible organisation. At least when other companies screw up they bend over backwards to engage and help their customers like Nokia for example.

Same happened to me. I even have installed the plug-in that reads the serial number directly from my device - no recognition.

Anyone tried an old driver? Like 9.2.0.474 or 10.0.0.200 on http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?model

For the same router, my W700 CAN connect WIFI without password, but CANNOT connect with password.
Anyone has same problem?
Waiting for new driver.

I'd like to say that I can confirm that the most recent driver is working on my friends 6607, which I personally installed the driver on. He hasn't had any disconnects since.
I also tested the range problem everyone seems to be having. I had no speed decreases until I reached the oppoite corner of my home, which is roughly...20-25 meters away. Windows showed 3/5 bars of connection strength. At this point, I could still achieve nearly maximum connection speed (my connection at home isn't the fastest, and I have a dual-band N600 router from NetGear). However, there were some fluctuations on Speedtest.net. My iPhone and VAIO both scored around the same, and slightly better (less than a Mb), however, they tended to be more consistent. I don't know if that wa due to unlucky network activity when I used my W700 or not (I interfered with my iPhone's testing and it had low readings when I did). I was even managing to stream 720p content from YouTube to the tablet (nothing in my house can stream 1080p, wired or not). Occasional buffering wa required.
I haven't noticed any issues with my tablet, after instaling the newer driver I posted a screencap of earlier. Maybe I just don't use my tablet the way others do.

Did everyone notice a BIOS update was posted on 1/08/13? I noticed it yesterday and installed it. I have been using my bluetooth headset for hours today and neither BT or WiFi have lost connection. I am wondering if the BIOS update has fixed the issue. I will continue to use the BT keyboard and headset and come back and post again within the next 24 hours.
My disconnects were sporadic unless I used BT headset and keyboard at the same time, in which case they were constant. I'll continue to use both today just for testing purposes.
