I installed update 2.08 - it still crashes / blank screen / smaller resolution sometimes for me - no change.
However I have the problem of not being able to use other user accounts on the system after having tried with the other driver versions. I've tried to delete and then create again the other accounts on the system, but they still are just flashing screens when logged in as these accounts.
Have anyone been able to find a solution to this to get back to a stable state without reinstalling the whole system? Since it also happens with brand new accounts on the system, I'm guessing it's something wrong with the setting / registry on the default user account.
Id will be a big work to reinstall my system to clear this up ![]()

What is 'Master Installer ver. 2.08'" ? I dont think the live updater has found anything new on my tablet.

I've been using graphics driver 1130 (from a Dell driver pack) for over a week now, and the resume from standby issue does not occur. Everything works well and smoothly.
The only problem I have is that despite my disabling of automatic driver updates for hardware, the silly thing keeps reinstalling driver version 1170, which it has done twice in a week, bringing back the crashing on resuming.
Am I missing something here? If I change the options in the system dialogue surely the driver shouldn't auto-upgrade.
Anyway, rolling the driver back once a week is better than forcing a restart everyday or putting up with Windows default drivers which drain the battery and look rubbish.

Hi englishgit,
I have the same problem with the autoupdate. Try to deactivate the automatic Windows Update. In the history of Windows Update you should see the auto update of the intel graphics driver.

Hi 'EnglishG..'
At the Start Screen, type 'update' and then click on 'Choose whether to automatically install Windows Updates'.
At the resulting screen, I have chosen:
'Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download or install them'.
Then to stop Drivers auto-installing, at the Start Screen, type 'System' and click on 'System'.
At the resulting screen click on 'Advanced System Settings' which will bring up a 'System Properties' dialog box. Click on the 'Hardware' tab, then 'Device Installation Settings' button. In there, I have changed the settings to have the following items selected/checked:
No, let me choose what to do
Never Install driver software from Windows Update.
Automaticaly get the device application and information provided by your device manufacturer.
These settings have allowed me to keep the Dell .1130 driver installed and retained and I am happily enjoying my W510 again.
Hope this helps.

Thanks GraemeWhyte. I thought I'd already changed that update setting (I usually do), but I must have missed that. I also mistakenly thought the System setting would override with Windows Update setting. Apparently not.
In any case, it will help. Thanks!

There's a new Master Installer in the Windows 8 driver's section...version 3.01
Same package of Windows 8.1 section!!!
The graphics drivers inside are 1170, of course...
Uff, my charms bar still waiting...
Bye

The driver package that was released yesterday includes an updated BIOS that provides additional support for Windows 8.1. I understand that the timing of this updated package may be frustrating if you're waiting for a fix for the VGA driver crashing issue, but we did not want to slow down other updates and optimizations while waiting on another.
Unfortunately, I do not have an update when it comes to the VGA driver issues at this time other than the fact that it continues to be worked on. Again, as soon as something is available or I have more information to share, it will be posted here.

Hi Cory
Can I just apply the BIOS update from the latest BIOS installer package and NOT install the drivers, specifically the graphics .1170 driver?
Thanks.
