It works in windows 7, but will not boot normally. I bypass the hdd password question by enter key three times, then it switches to asking for just a password three times, then offers a choice between trying more, or going to load a cd-rom disk which brings up windows 7 after loading from the cdrom disk. If I request it reboot, it goes back to asking for hdd password.
I am about to load linux (SUSE 12.0 disk to see if that works.

this password request appears also on BIOS boot? (press F2 at boot)
if not, you can enter BIOS and check on Security tab to delete the HDD password, entering a Supervisor password and try if it enables HDD password change.

It shows up on the bios, showing under security that hdd password is set.

The linux program I used (SUSE 12.0) started up but hung when it needed to partition the hard disk.
