Same here - and I started this thread...

Finally no issues connecting/staying connected or with Bluetooth (or at least the BT mouse.. )

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

I upated to the .234 drivers (thanks for posting the link!) and I also immediately experienced the failure with bluetooth. Device manager displayed a device in error state with a usb set device id failure (or something like that). The good news is that after a couple shutdown cycles (power off and on - hard to do in Win8 - had to dig around in the power options and disable hybrid sleep  also fast startup), the bluetooth did actually start working again. Also, after installing the .234 driver, I had to go back into device manager, select the properties on the AR5BMD522 wireless network adapter and on the power management tab disable the "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" checkbox (which got re-enabled after the driver install). Now, I've had no more wifi disconnects and my BT mouse is working, too.

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

Thanks dla for showing that it can be fixed.

I still have the bluetooth problems. The device is listed as "unknown device" and clicking on "update drivers" just gives me an error something like "we cannot find a driver for this device".

Also, I'm now using the WiFi network that was most problematic, and it still is not perfect (although it seems to be improved). Apart from the BT problems, still not a perfect fix.

Just checking back to see if problem has been fixed.  All I can say is the fix I used is still working for me 2 months later.  I have had no disconnecting and did not have to do anything other then what I originally posted in Feb. below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a new Aspire V5 preloaded with Windows 8.  Everything was fine for 1st couple months until a couple weeks ago.  Then one day I could not stay connected to the wifi.  Lots of discussions about needing to load different drivers  but many people replyed with the same disconnecting problem after loading the different drivers.  So, I looked for what I hoped to be a simple fix and you posted it.

Go to Control Panel, type Device Manager in upper right search box click on Device Manager, Find and click on  Network Adapters from the list, Click on Qualcomm Atheros .... Right Click and select Properties, then select Power Management Tab, then uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power",  click OK.

Then it worked!

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

I too updated to the latest bundled wifi/bluetooth driver and now have no wifi issues, but also no bluetooth, even after restarting multiple times. Anyone have any other suggestions for getting BT to work with the 10.0.0.234 drivers?

Thanks!

Oddly enough, there's a separate driver for Bluetooth, dated 2013/04/03 version 8.0.0.222 (226.7MB), as you can see, it has the same date as the latest WiFi drivers, maybe this is the solution for those who have problems with the Bluetooth...
