I am almost ready to toss this *** out a window. I did not go thru all the posts but i seem to have the same issues you all do. Wifi works, doesnt work, works, doesnt work... It is completly worthless to stop every 3 minutes to reset or reboot my wireless/laptop.
Sad part about it is that i purchased from NewEgg and they say that i cannot exchange for a diff model because of my method of payment. They say Acer will not replace it for them if they take it back so now I am stuck with a $1600 dollar weight that gives me sparatic wifi. Oh, no worries, in todays environment wifi is not a part of everyones life...
To make me feel even worse, i purchased another acer model for a family member...that also had *** wifi and a broken trackpad. I returned that, thank god it wasnt thru newegg...
PS: it took me 15 minutes to write this post because i kept getting disconnected and couldn't upload. HAHAHAHAHA

Is anyone from Acer monitoring this thread? Care to comment and give a response to the technical problem?

Solution?
So I have had this laptop since November. Having been travelling since dec and until now I was having problem after problem with the wifi. I updated drivers etc and no improvement. Even with power plugged in.
In the apartment Im renting the wifi is from the floor above and for days we though the signal poor, niether me or my flatmate could get the wifi to behave. He has a different laptop - a samsung.
Then all of a sudden I'm downloading with good speeds. The signal hasnt improved I had the included bluetooth mouse switched off. As soon as I swithed it on it throttled the download to a disconnect. Switch off again and the download resumes.
It is repeatable and whenever we now want to use wifi, we just dont have the included mouse switched on.
We find thaat both laptops are affected by this and we must switch off the mouse otherwise we cant use the internet, or the connection is relly unstable.
Give this a try and see if it helps improve things.

I have an Acer Aspire V5-471G and on atheros driver version 10.0.0.209 and I'm having the same wifi problem which drops every 30mins and gradually gets worse. I just bought this 2 weeks ago and thought the wifi problem was due to bad internet signal. Later on, I realized all my other wifi devices like my lenovo ideapad s10, iphone 4s, and samsung galaxy grand we're working properly with stable wifi connection all at the same time. I read somewhere that its a possible incompatibility with both blueetooth on and wifi on. I turned the bluetooth off but didn't fix it entirely. It did help from dropping every minute to 30mins instead. I downloaded the driver 10.0.0.217.v3 but haven't installed it yet. As I read through the forum, it seems that driver update isn't a good idea. There's a new driver I see in the acer download page for my laptop model http://www.acer.com.ph/ac/en/PH/content/drivers but I'm not so sure if I should update it to that version instead which is 10.0.0.225. It's a march 18, 2013 update. Anyone can give me insight on this? Would really appreciate it. ![]()

P.S. I've already done the power settings too. All are in maximum performance both plugged in or on battery. My wifi problem persists and I'm always using plugged in or with power. I'm not sure about the black and white cable of the 2 antennas as I'm not capable of disassembling my laptop. So I'm banking on a very good driver update. please let me know whats best for my laptop version. Thanks!

I'm finding that when I move my iPad away from the S7 that the connection comes back - although this could just be a coincidence. Is there a latest wireless driver and anyone have luck installing it? There's no way I can work like this, and bought this thing to replace an old Toshiba laptop - at least the Toshiba would hang onto a connection.

I see this has already been mentioned but it worked for me. Maybe the problem has been fixed in the newest release of the hardware. Not sure of the manufacture date of my laptop...
If 802.11 power save protocol is not supported by the wireless access point/router, it can cause issues such as random disconnects. I just got this laptop last night and had it online on WiFi and plugged into A/C at home all evening while I was setting it up and installing software. It didn't disconnect at all. Today I brought it to work and am running off battery and noticed it kept disconnecting. I set the Wireless Adapter Settings Power Saving Mode on Battery to Maximum Performance. It has been about 90 minutes and so far the connection hasn't dropped.

Hate to pile on, but having the same problem as others describe with my brand new Acer Aspire S7. Having it plugged in for maximum performance, dropping bluetooth, etc seemed all together to help some of the time, but not always, especially with my home network, which works fine with ten other laptops and ipads. Can't have a laptop and not know when I can get on line. Acer please tell me there is a fix, as there is lots otherwise to recommend this laptop. Assuming there is not, from the lack of response to other inquiries, I will be returning my laptop tomorrow.
