I, too have severe WiFi problems, with my Aspire S3-391 notebook.
I have tried the following things to fix it (in that order, as found on this forum in other threads):
- Updated to .217
- Updated to .217v3
- Rolled back to .75
- Updated the BIOS to 2.11
- Updated to .217v3
- Set the energy usage of the WiFi card to "maximum performance"
- The "LLDP-protocol" option is turned off
- Updated to .218
- Turned "let windows shut off wifi controller" in wifi adapter settings
- Updated to .220
- Opened the notebook and switched out the wires (they were connected the same way as mentioned in another post although I do not have enough electrical knowledge to know if this is true)
It does seem that different routers make the problems worse. At home I have connection problems every 3-5 minutes except when I'm in my bedroom where connection seems to be better. At my university (where probably strong signal routers are used) I seem to have a lot less problems. I do know my home router is OK because there are two other laptops connected without any problems at all.
So far nothing has worked or even made the situation better. I'll refrain from ranting about my dissapointment in Acer for not working on the solution.

By as found on other threads I actually mean this thread and other threads. I have reversed the antenna wires back to the position they were when I bought the laptop, because this changed nothing.

@zimmie
Just curious .. the .218 driver doesn't address the WiFi disconnect problem? I can't try because I already returned the the ultrabook.
I noticed on other forms that people have noted that with Windows 7 and the Atheros adapter they didn't have the WiFi problem. But after upgrading to Win8 they starting having the same WiFi problems people complained about.

I've been waiting waiting for the .218 version of the driver for two months.
Does anyone know anything??
This situation is quite annoying and I don't wont to send my laptop on service!
Thanks

Live updater still offers me a VGA driver which I DON'T want because I simply DON'T NEED it!
Would you mind giving me a dl link for new versions of the driver?
PS Please, forgive me for my awful english but I'm not a native english speaker ![]()

Could someone explain how to do this in simple language? Can't believe I spend over $800 and can't maintain internet connections more than 10 min.
