This seems to be a universal problem with this Wifi chip in Windows 8 and we should be bugging Qualcomm if we want it fixed:
Isn't it technically possible to replace the wireless card? I'm not sure if wifi cards have to be whitelisted in the S7 or what, but it looks like it's removable.

How will one know whether the new driver updates for solving the wifi problem has been published or not?

Are people having the WiFi disconnects problems using Cisco Linsys wireless routers? Or are people having the disconnects with other routers as well?
FYI: Not sure why, but it looks like the WLAN 10.0.0.217.v3 driver disappeared from the acer website.

On the Dutch site (acer.nl) 217v3 is still available, as well as 075.

My Wifi disconnects are happening with my Asus RT-N16 router running Tomato firmware

@dracore
Thanks.. was trying to figure out if people were having the problem using different routers.
BTW, Acer put the .217.v3 back up.

a other router is not a solution for a wireless laptop.
At home you can use this but when youre in a ohter area you have the same problem.
The best solution is a driver update oure lose this crappy wireless card

A little disappointed.. but I'm returning the S7 after 20+ days of trying to find a solution..
One unexplained observation, the WiFi dropped connections seemd to mainly occur if the S7 was in the same room as my wireless router. Going to other rooms in the apartment, for some reason, resulted in far fewer dropped connections. I spoke to the people at Cisco, and they said this could happen if the laptop is too close to the router.. but then again, my 5 year old Sony Vaio never dropped connections once the entire time I had the S7..
Ok.. well good luck everyone.. maybe I will check in later to see if there is a resolution finally.. and possibly consider giving S7 another try.. that is if I don't just get the MacBook Air..

I experienced massive Wifi problems, too. And it even got more annoying with an additional VPN connection - as you have to redial..
What I did: in device manager, remove the Wifi card. With a reboot, it reinstalls the driver with standard settings. Now it's working much more better (one disconnect per day, compared to one disconnect every 10min before).
I assume, it's a Win8 issue - somehow the tile world and the windows world don't work flawless with Atheros.
