How does one restore to the factory state? Does this wipe out all of the personalizations, subsequent software installations, and data? Does the Windows update that seems to have caused this bad behavior not eventully get reapplied? I hope this is not too much to ask.
One would think that with all of the information spread accross this thread, someone at Acer or Microsoft or QC/Atheros would have had an AHA! moment: "Only one thing could account for all of this weirdness, I know what it is, and, by God, I'm going to fix it!" (A true nerd would not let any holiday stand in the way.)

As a general update, We're continuing to monitor these posts and I'm continuing to provide feedback from them to our teams here at Acer. I took an S7 home again over the holiday break and it stayed connected on .217 drivers for the entire 4 days without dropping off. I did not do any Windows updates, which I plan to try tonight or tomorrow and see if that provides us with any different results.

There's a new driver detailed as WiFi Enhanced, the version is 10.0.0.221, I'm downloading it right now, I'll post any news about it:

Nice catch Daniel, I hadn't seen it. I'll try it when I get back infront of my S7. I'll continue to monitor for any feedback I can provide from my end.

Looks like the moment we've been waiting for! But the driver size is comparatively small, and so it looks not to be a combo. What happens to the Bluetooth devices? Will they stay with the Bluetooth part of x.217? Is that stable? Should we install the older driver x.0206 that shows up on the Acer list?

Guys.
I had same issue (wifi drops every 5 minutes or so) at my 191 S7 at 10.0.0.75 driver wich is still latest at download page for my device and looks like the cure was just to disable IPv6.
BTW, why 10.0.0.75 is latest for my device?
I almost sure that should not be any difference in WIFI hardware between 191 and 391 models...

i installed 10.0.0.221 but the problem still persists. (maybe became better from getting disconnected every 5 min to every 30min).

Cory, I'd be interested if you could test against different routers. I'm running driver version 10.0.0.75, Bluetooth driver version 8.0.0.206
The S7-391 works flawless on a Linksys E1500 Wireless Router, cannot get it to work correcty on a Netgear WND3700. The Netgear is setup correctly because I have many other laptops using it. The S7 however is very spotting performance with the Netgear WND3700.

No change in the newest version, same problem in the dropping of connection no matter which version i used.
Cory, did you tried testing using the bluetooth mouse with the wifi on? The bluetooth seems to interfere with the wifi. My bluetooth mouse will lose connection every once in a while and then the wifi will get disconnected.
Thanks.

I had previously upgraded to .217, which made the laptop unusable. I rolled back to .75 1 or 2 weeks ago which made the laptop more usable and the connection was dropped less often (but still dropped).
I just uninstalled the qualcomm tools from 'Add / Remove programs' and upgraded to the latest .221 driver. Throughput to access points more than a few meters (15m) away is still horrible (100KB/s if I am lucky). I just carried out a 1 hour ping test to the ip number of the access point without any packet loss, so there is hope. (2m from access point, Power plugged in, Balanced power plan, Wireless Adapter settings: Maximum Performance)
When I am more than a few meters away from the access point I now use a 5+ year old USB WiFi dongle (802.11g, not even n) and that gives me much better throughput. Looks ridiculous though in my svelte 'ultrabook', but at least it works.
The situation is still less than ideal and I am waiting for the real fix. If an Acer admin would like me to run some tests then please contact me.

Hi,
I'm experiencing similar problems on my brand new Aspire S7 (391). I have two WIFI routers that both work perfectly with my other 3 laptops all with different hardware and OS (win7, win8, OSX), but my S7 is causing router crashes every 5-10 minutes on both routers. The only connection that seems to work fairly stable is if I connect to my Galaxy Nexus (phone).
I tried updating to the latest drivers and also disabling IPv6 as someone suggested here, without any effect.
My routers are: ZTE MF28G and a "Dovado" (I can't seem to find the model name)
This in combination with noisy speakers makes for a terrible first experience... I already switched my S7 for a new one once (the first one made crackling electrical noises!)
Would be great if Acer at least could find a solution to the WIFI problems as it seems to be a common problem. Let me know if I can provide any more useful info.
It looks like there might also be some problems with the graphics driver, anyone else experiencing odd behavior related to that?
Cheers
/H
