Cory, I just sent you by private message the diagnostic report for my adaptor, which continues to drop. Please let me know if you have received it. There are also some log files I would like to send, but they must go by way of attachment to a regular email, so I would need an address.

I'd like to introduce myself. I just bought the amazing S7 from the Microsoft Store! Looked great in the store, worked good in the store, I spent a mint to buy it, took it home and the Wifi doesn't work. Spent the last 4 hours going through all the threads of trying to fix it...is this some kind of sick joke? That HUNDREDS of people are having issues?!?! -- with no ACER reponse that is worth anything other than, update to the latest driver???
How about -- yes, it is a widespread problem and we are rapidly working to fix with an ETA of....???
Glad to be here and I feel welcome.

Same issues. I can stay connected to my WNDR3700 ... I can TRACERT, PING with success. NSLOOKUP resolves to all domains ... BUT I can't browse the internet with any browser or internet dependent application. What the heck is wrong with this machine???
I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled latest drivers, rolled back, tried again, NADA. Nothing has worked to get Wifi to be reliable. Once in a while I can get to google, but the page doesn't load all the way and it's molasses slow.
ACER? ... BUELLER? .... ANYONE? ... FRYE? ...

You can't get your wifi to work at all? Most of us are having wifi dropping issues. You might have a faulty wifi adapter in your laptop. I would suggest returning or exchanging it. Mine is going back to Best Buy today for a HP ultrabook I'm afraid. It's sad. I liked this one. Nice backlit keyboard, touch screen, nice sound, etc... I was always told to stay away from Acer. I ignored that. i should listen to people more often. Good luck.

I have seen this annoying problem in my Aspire S7 ultrabook.
I tried re-installing the old driver , new driver on the support website bbut it was of no use.
Finally, I restored to facttorey settings and now I dont see any of the wifi issues.
This time, I am not planning to install the optional update (wifi driver from windows update).
Hopefully, acer/Atheros will release a good driver.
After spending so much money for this ultrabook, it was disappointting that this ppor quality wifi driver is released.
hopefully, Wifi continues to work now.

After many hours of troubleshooting and fighting with this awesome looking Win8 machine, I have some interesting information: My Wifi is very unstable with my NETGEAR WNDR3700 wireless router. I took the laptop to work today where I have Cisco and Linksys equipment and the S7 wireless performs flawless without issues!
So perhaps my issues are related to NETGEAR? A forums review on http://forum1.netgear.com yields several results of issues with Atheros (ARXXXX) devices. I have updated my router firmware with no improvement. Modified channels, settings on/off to determine what might be the problem. I haven't found the right combo of settings I suppose. Cannot get the Aspire S7 to function right. I have 2 other laptops and desktops at home that function perfectly however.
For me, this seems isolated to NETGEAR and ATHEROS driver/hardware. ![]()
I remember 5 years ago, Lenovo and Fujitsu having issues with NETGEAR. Both machines I was having trouble with had ATHEROS wireless hardware in them. UGH.

Add me to the list of users with Acer S7 Wifi issues.
For me, my WIFI works until my Notebook goes to sleep. When it wakes, wifi is lost. If you go to the Metro Settings view of "Wireless", I see "Airplane" mode, and "Bluetooth" on/off, but wifi is now missing. In the start menu, the wifi looks connected, but when you click on the tasktray icon, the list of wifi hotspots in the area never shows up. When you swipe the setttings charm and and click the wifi icon, it is unresponsive.
i have uninstalled the wifi driver and reset it back to version .075 as other have suggested - No difference
i have disabled letting the PC turn off the Wireless device in "device manager" - no difference
i have the same experience at home (linksys top of the line router) and at the office (top of the line cisco wifi) - no difference
I would return the device (AGAIN) to the Microsoft Store but the line ups just to get to the one and only store in Canada is PACKED. (my first returned device was a faulty video display).
Love the notebook, but im really worried about the quality of the device.
Sad in Toronto

Machine construction is superior. I'm hard wired at home / wireless where I can be. Its a love/hate relationship right now. I like the machine too much right now to give up. Patches usually come out when testing catches up with complaints. The machine is near business class IMO and probably the best latop you'll find in any MSFT Store.

Just wanted to chime in, I purchased my s7-191 (11.6") about a week ago. Brought it to a work conference, two days later a windows update happened and then I started having wifi issues. Extremely flakey, would show connected yet i wouldn't be able to load anything, wouldn't connect to outlook or access points from wake and i'd have to reboot.
Ended up having to restore to factory state, unticked 'Allow the Computer to Turn Off This Device to Save Power' under atheros network adapter and turned wifi to maximum power for both battery & plugged in states under power mgmt and i haven't had any issues since.
I've had several updates occur since I restored and everything still seems fine. From wake screen i can see the wifi signal on full bars even before I've finished logging in whereas before it would show an "x" even after I'd completed logging in. i'm on 10.0.0.75. i've watched several episodes on netflix and no disconnect issues... I was ready to return the machine but I liked it too much...i'm crossing my fingers but all seems to be working the way I expect it to (three days and counting).
