Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

My recent comments (#60) were posted before seeing post #59, so the chronology may seem strange. In any case, the Windows diagnostic tool on the QC adaptor has many times on my machine--even when the wifi connection was working--claimed to find and fix problems with the device. Subsequently it reports no problems, only to find problems again when I run it a while later. That utility produces a log file that I am not tekkie enough to read. Perhaps a few of us could send that to an Acer-provided email address to help out with this, since apparently the problem is not showing up in Acer's own installations. Any interest?

Same here, uninstalled adapter, updated driver, changed power setting as suggested, but still dropping after 20-30 minutes.  Surprised and disapointed at response from Acer to the issue.

Udate:  This time unstalled the latest Qualcomm after deleting from Qualcomm app from: control panel>all program items>program features, then installed latest wifi bluetooth and has been working for 4+ hours without dropping wifi connction.   First attempt I had only deleted the wifi adapter from device manager and updated the driver when the system found the Qualcomm card.

Fingers crossed!

We would definitely like to take a look.  I'll make sure they get into the right hands.

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

Agreed. This is absolutely a unacceptable, especially on such a high priced high end "flagship" machine. Having the same problems. Will try driver switches, etc. however, can't even download new driver as the signal drops. I'm only 4 feet from my wireless router!

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

I am facing the same problem of the disconnection of wifi after an hour or two of usage. I have followed the steps to install the new version of the driver and now, not only is the wifi getting disconnected, the bluetooth fails to work after a few moment after booting, causing the bluetooth mouse to not work.

Please advice on how to solve this problem, my country do not have a return policy so I am stuck with this laptop and its problem.

Please help.

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

Inspired by Acer-Cory's picture in post #59 I rolled back the WiFi-driver to version 1.0.0.75. Apparently it makes a difference. For the last 3 hours I haven't encountered any problems with the WiFi-connectivity. Fingers crossed!

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

After analysing the time for the wireless adaptor to have problem, I discovered that after being awake for exactly 1 hour 45 minutes, either the wifi or the bluetooth will get disconnected. This is using the version 10.0.0.217 .

This shows that there is a timeout being set in the driver to power save after 1 hour 30 minutes. Please fix this bug if anyone from Acer read this.

I cannot rollback on the driver as I reinstalled the new version. Is there any way to get the older version of the driver?

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

@jialiang123: You can get version 10.0.0.75 from Acer's dowload site. You must choose to see 'All' and not just 'Latest' drivers.

Re: Aspire S7 - 391 Wifi problems

I too have had all of these wifi connecting issues, this on a new Acer S3-391. Dropping the wifi connection willy nilly, no set pattern. Have tried all of the recommendations. I thought it had been solved after following an Aussie forum - go into Device Manager and under Atheros Network Adaptor properties, go onto Power Management and untick 'Allow the Computer to Turn Off This Device to Save Power'.

Fixed I thought. Tried opening multiple tabs in IE10, dropped wifi connection after 3 minutes.  Tried again, same result. It obviously does not like to be overloaded. Maybe someone else can try loading multiple tabs and see if they also lose internet connection?

Someone at Acer must realise  this is a problem?
