I found that turning off Bluetooth worked fine for me.

Bluetooth and WiFi, if I recall, both operate on the same frequency band.

Hence, running Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time can cause one or both to drop out.

For those having trouble not solved by turning off BlueTooth (or nearby BlueTooth devices), do some basic roubleshooting: See if other computers drop connection. If so, it's probably your WAP.

I have just bought this yesterday and the wifi is dropping out every 15 minutes. How rubbish is that! I went into device manager and tried to update the driver, but it said I have latest version. I have manually downloaded a version which has a date of only about a week ago. It asked me to repair remove etc, so I have removed it, and I'm going to try to reinstall it again. I really shouldn't have to be doing this. Will update the results.

Hi Guys,

I'm not very computer smart but I've read your posts and tried to follow directions. I have the same wifi dropping problem on my aspire v5. I have downloaded the latest driver .225 to my computer and tried to update the the .217 that's on my computer but it keeps telling me that the latest/best version is already installed and it won't upgrade.

Any suggestions?

I just purchased an acre aspire/v5 internet also goes limited and I have to keep disconnecting and then reconnect! I looked and i have blue tooth disabled and then i see it states Ethernet cable unplugged so I start troubleshooting and it still doesn't work, I shouldn't have to update the driver when I just got this! Also when IM playing a game and I have it in full screen it keeps going back to small screen, I really don't care for this touch screen and alot of times the start menu just comes up like if I swiped the right hand side, think IM going to take this back

just uninstall the wireless driver software in ur laptop then download new software from acer website version .225 and install with (remove) option. just try this its really works for me.

I've read through the following discussion and think I've tried everything.
I'm still having wifi issues. Here's everything I've tried.
1) Installed the latest wifi driver (.225) and the latest bluetooth drivers.

2) Disabled blue tooth. For some reason I couldn't just shut it off so I disabled my bluetooth drivers.

3) Installed the latest bios
4) Disabled the computers ability to shut off wifi to save power.

5) One person suggested opening the laptop and disconnecting the black cable on the wifi. I tried that and wifi got worse.
6) I brought my Acer Aspire V5 touch laptop back to the place I bought it from. They removed my hard drive and installed it in another identical laptop. Problem is still happening.

I have only one idea left. My wireless router is on the old side. It only supports 802.11g. This laptop has a 802.11n card and is trying to downgrade to 11g to work with my router.

Perhaps 11n to 11n will work better.
I've just purchased a new 11n wireless router and will install it soon.
If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas... Wish me luck.

Just to follow up here.. Ever since I installed the 802.11n wireless router, I haven't seen any problems.
I guess the problem was with this laptop working with the 802.11g.

I had been having this very same issue for over a month. Had run several updates and downloaded drivers etc...none worked. Tonight I got an update driver notification...did that and voila...FIXED. Seems they have pulled out the proverbial finger and fixed the issue. Yay now I can get some work done on my course !

I dont know if its my network but im facing the same problem with my Acer v5 touch. The laptop is only 14 days new???

I'm going to 'explore beyond limits' of other brands if this doesen't get fixed soon. I spend 800 Australian Dollars on A system thats unreliable for internet??

I'm thinking about returning it myself when I pay 800 for a laptop I except it to be working fine with no problems.

This is the error i'm getting every 10 to 30 minutes depending when it wants to suddenly drop out

PS: Where do I get the new driver from? I don't see how A brand new laptop would automaticly have hardware issues.

Driver version 10.0.0.234 is required

This is an issue affecting the wireless card which affects other laptops and is an issue relating to The atheros driver and Windows 7/ Windows 8
