Hi,

I am having a hard time to find the correct Dock I need!

I consider myself tech savvy but the hunt for the correct dock station for the Acer TravelMate P645-MG-74508 I just ordered is becoming annoying.

As far as I got, I need a 2013 “Acer ProDock II” or “Acer ProDock 2” [model 2013 ProDock (8.3-19.7mm)]. From an Acer PDF I have found online describing the dock, the model ID is: NP.DCK11.00N

See said PDF here: https://app.box.com/s/o0ob31wiquntljpq9ofz

To better understand the looks of the newer dock, here are some pictures of it: http://imgur.com/a/8X2aZ

THE ISSUE: I have a hard time finding the model NP.DCK11.00N in the US. The best I get to, is model NP.DCK11.00Q, therefore I am very confused.

Does ACER have a different naming for different continents (very confusing then!)? Or, are the NP.DCK11.00N and NP.DCK11.00Q totally different products?!

See BestBuy and CDW pages for an “Acer ProDock II Docking Station”:

As you can see, on BestBuy website for the NP.DCK11.00Q, it shows a picture of the 2012 model whereas on CDW website, it shows a picture of the 2013 model !!!

Also, doing an Amazon research (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=NP.DCK11.00Q) for the NP.DCK11.00Q, it shows the older model from 2012!!

Trying to confirm what could be the correct explanation by doing a Google research is even more confusing between NP.DCK11.00N and NP.DCK11.00Q!

Can you please help me? I want the docking station shown in the PDF (the thin nicer look dock), not the one shown on the BestBuy website for instance!

Many thanks,

B.

I really think the Q is just an updated version of the N.  My guess is that perhaps they did something minor like use different branded ports or something similarly inconsequential.  In both cases they are Prodock II models, which is the criteria for compatibility with the P645.  SInce Q follows N in the alphabet, it stands to reason that the Q model is a more recent version, further suggesting that if there was a compatibility issue, that would be made clear.

The final proof is when I receive my ProDock II model NP.DCK11.00QNP.DCK11.00Q.  If there is a compaibility issue with my P645, I'll report back to this thread.

    Thanks!

Good to hear that you confirm that the Q is the new slim format.

Oooh- wait a bit on that conclusion, please.  I did not confirm it per se - but merely said it stands to reason it would be compatible.  In fact, I am convinced enough that I ordered one from ProVantage (best price, good vendor reviews).

When I get it and set it up, that's when the word confirm will hopefully apply....
