Video Problems

I have an Acer V5-571 on Windows 8.1 and have never had this problem before but this morning everything was running smoothly then I got home and the first time I tried to watch a video it would just show the beginning frame and not play, like it was buffering. This was on twitter. I then tried watching a YouTube video that did the same, thinking it was my browser, Google Chrome, I shut it down and tried again to no success. I then tried watching a YouTube video on internet explorer which did the same so I turned my computer off and back on and went back on YouTube on Chrome again and this time the video was playing but without sound, I checked all sound was turned up, also trying this with Netflix which gave the same results. Apart from this all my other tabs were working fine provided they didn’t have video. Thinking it was my speakers, I tried iTunes which played fine.

To rule out the possibility of it just being an internet problem I tried to watch a video on my hard drive which played frame by frame, constantly buffering and showing a black screen after every frame, again, without sound.

It seems like there is a problem with audio and video playing together, I have no idea where this has come from, if anyone could help me out, that'd be great. Thanks.

    OwenKennedy,

Did Windows perform updates recently, that could be the cause. Please perform a system restore to when this worked without issue and work forward drom there.
