I cant get my recovery disks for my gateway ne 522 series to work

I was told that i had corrupted files when laptop went into automatic repair loop told to get revovery disc. Ordered the disc, which was a set of 5 and a external optical drive. Followed instructions and never got past the insert boot disk and it went to the Windows logo loaded then went to black screen. Every now and again a blue screen pops up saying your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart. Can anyone help please?

    can be an hardware issue, like a faulty HDD since you had corrupted files.

    Thank you for responding. Im not very computer savvy. Can you tell me how to check to see if its a faulty HDD? THANKS AGAIN

    Hello again. Still having problems with recovery. Heres whats happening now: downloaded dos utility disk, wiped the hard drive clean and started recovery. Recovery worked until i inserted the first recovery disk then got an error message saying restore failed because it couldnt find specified path. Can someone please help its been 2months trying to fix computer. Thanks
