The difference is that you can update the samsung s2 with an official 4.1.2 update regardless if orange releases it or not. There are many ways to do it with Odin either custom or official release so you cannot compare samsung with acer in this situation. If that would have been so easy with the S500 trust me the forum would have been empty.I could live without the update in case Acer would give me the option to unlock the bootloader even knowing that it would imply loosing the warranty.
Ps. I know Acer does not care about this but the next one is a Nexus ![]()

Usually branded phones are not even going to get an update because the operator thinks that in this way they can force you to get a new phone and renew your contract. If they think that this is the way to get new customers i have to say that they are very wrong. I terminated my contract with orange a long long time ago and switched to prepay
because of their ignorance. So how all this is Acer`s problem someone would ask.Well last time i checked Acer not only manufactures phones but also laptops and tablets etc.I dont think that somebody who purchased a product and received no support for it will ever recommend or even buy another Acer product. So i think it would be in Acer`s best interest to keep the customers happy.I am not a sales person but i dont think this is the way to get new customers.I own 2 Acer Lcds,1 laptop and 1 phone and coming from a Acer F900 and we have a business where all the laptops are Acer. The conclusion is i always liked the brand because i never had an issue with any of the products i use(except the S500) but if things will not change then i would do the only thing that is available to me and that is to put my money in somebody elses pocket who cares and thank god there are quite a few out there.

Hello. I also bought my phone from Orange. JB is not upgradeable. The Orange customer services I was told that they are not there for release. In some other way can not be put up on the official JB? (Sorry for the mistakes, I do not speak English as read).
The ICS is the problem with that is sometimes stuck while listening to music. There are no patches devastations of music?

Orange have a customer service ? ![]()
I agree with HawerStar.
I would also pay someone $50 who can send me a workaround to upgrade my acer to 4.1.2

So what Orange customers can not get JB updates?
Well **bleep** a situation.
I wonder how much you have to wait ..
But if Acer has released the official update for JB, the Orange What the **bleep** you waiting for? Who is so bad? The Orange or Acer?

Here are many from romania, do not worry.
And we all expect the update, but knowing how Orange respect their clients, they most likely will not update, because who took phone under contract is already "hooked" to the contract ... so for what to do the update ?

Orange posted this on their website
"raspuns Orange
Update 15.03.2013 : Momentan nu avem informatii noi de la producator cu privire la data lansarii update-ului. Multumim pentru intelegere."
English version "At the moment we dont have any news from the manufacturer regarding release date for the update.Thank you for your understanding"
Well if this is true than it means that Acer is delaying the update for branded phone for some unknown reason.
