What? They say they never heard of any thermal issues with the Predator line? Haaahaaaahaaaaaa!!! The forums are full of them thermal issues, even with my GX-792, repasted several times with Kryonaut, Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic MX-4 with no luck! Tightened the CPU bracket with no results, even with undervolt CPU gets to 95C sometimes in simple games like World of Tanks, Dota 2 and Heroes of the Storm, without any OC! We asked for a BIOS that fixes this or at least gives us granular control over voltages and frequency, but instead they gave us a BIOS with Revised UID and nothing else! Haahahahaaaa! It's almost funny, in a sarcastic way! You cannot do anything about these issues, you are stuck with the device as it works and i am sure this is the way it really was designed to work, shortening it's lifespan to the 2-3 years of warranty so you can buy the next big thing bottlenecked for profit

Yes and the irony here is that other companies like Dell alienware and Asus do it too.

Have you tried repasting with conductanout? It should be better than any other paste. Who knows, maybe the heatsink is not made out of copper Smiley Happy.

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I will never ruin the surface of a delidded chip with metal based thermal compounds, all i really noticed between repastes with different thermal grease is a bit of higher performance, but temps still remain the same, maybe 2-3 degrees lower. I remember i wrote a scenario about this, and noticed that the CPU wants to run at 90-95C all the time, to maximise performance, like it was designed that way. Some games run at 3.5Ghz at 95C, other games at 3.9Ghz at 95C. It really seems to me this is the way they designed it to run. But it's not okay at all, this is a voltage problem, and those with a bit of desktop experience all know that CPU has more voltages to control, not only the Core voltage, or Vcore, which even this one is too high for the CPU's needs, leading to bottleneck and lower performance because of thermals, this is why a good BIOS is needed. If we do not have access to the more advanced voltage controls, at least tune it well into a new BIOS package, so people can have stable devices with reliable temperatures

The problem is that they will fix it but with the later models. They probably won't fix it for these models.

EDIT: Even Predator 21x has the same issue and it is a 9k $ beast. So I guess it is not because that is the way they designed it, more likely they don't know how to.

The predator is a good laptop ( not great). I had problems with my g5-793 but solved them yesterday. The fan was spinning like crazy and i had 88 degrees celsius is battlefield 1. Yesterday i run a prime95 with maximum heat and i got to 98 degrees ( with 13 degrees difference between max temps / core ).. and i decided to change my thermal paste. I managed to remove the void sticker from the screw without leaving any sign on it :D. After repaste i got 75 degrees max and 3 degrees maximum difference. And i decided it is not enough. I installed intel xtu and got the core voltage offset to -0.180. I run stable prime95 and the intel stress test for 1 hour before deciding to stop for the day. I think i can get to even lower vcore ( my steps were -0.1 < -0.15 < -0.18 with no crash).  Now the temp in prime is 65 degrees :).
I will post some screenshots after i get home. Thank you for the ideas :)

@MADE the noise you are listening might probably be the fan coil whine you could try to lubricate it with a bit of electrical contact cleaner spray (dont recommend to open it if you are on warranty you might void it) or just contact acer support for a warranty repair/replacement
