Sorry to hear you're still having issues PilotDave. I'm checking with our software guys to see if there is any issues with the softload and if they have any suggestions. It may be a few hours but I'll post back as soon as I have something.

@PilotDave, when it's stuck at Office, can you try hitting Alt+Home. This should minimize the install app and allow you to see if there are any error messages.

Before I can run the "restore everything" option I must "remove all data from the hard drive". Can one of you tell me how to do this? It will have to be something I can do from Setup (or something similar) since the computer boots up to the infamous "Installing Office 2010" no matter which of the other options I select.
I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the eRecovery image since I'm getting the same result whether starting from the hidden partition on the computer or from the disks that came from Acer.
I want to thank you both again for hanging in with me on this. It's a big help.

Are you sure it's not telling that it's going to remove all of your data from the HDD? I think we're past that point anyways. If you've done full reinstalls, there shouldn't be data on the drive other than the recovery partition and the imgae it's loading.
I'm checking to see if there is a bad image, but the AO722 is several years old, I really don't believe it's possible to identify an issue with the load at this point ocnsidering the quantity of AO722's and RCDs out in the world.

Acer, that key combination worked! There are two dialog boxes on the desktop:
1. "System Preparation Tool 3.14 System Preparation Tool prepares the machine for hardware independence and cleanup." It offers options for System Cleanup Action and Shutdown Options. These are currently set at "Enter System Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE)" and "Reboot", respectively.
2. McAfee warning that Your Computer is at Risk which offers two options: Check Status and Close.
I'm thinking that I should close the McAfee box. What should I do with the Sysprep box?
Dave
p.s. I just saw your question about erasing data. Yes, the restore is telling me that I must erase all data on the drive. I tried selecting that option and it refused to proceed until I did so.

Sit tight Dave. I'm just as anxious as you are to see what Acer Cory has to say. Did you also have to press the Fn key when you did the Alt + Home combo?

I'm sitting, Jack! Yes, the combo was Alt-Fn-Pg Up/Home.......needed the Fn key to get to Home.
