After installing Windows 8.1 update on Acer Aspire E1-532 there is a problem with shutdown procedure. Screen goes black but notebook is still working, i hear the fan, see blinking leds...

Haven't heard of the issue you are describing. You can try loading the latest video driver and BIOS for your system. You can download these files at http://www.acer.com, click Support, then Drivers and Manuals.

Hi, I have the exact same problem after updating to Windows 8.1. If I try to

shutdown or enter sleeping mode, the screen goes black but the system keeps

running up until the battery dies out.

I experienced the same issue last night after updating several drivers. I just rolledback driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 from 10.18.10.3412 to 10.18.10.3379 and it seemed to have resloved the issue. Good luck
