Notebook used very little, so jam shocked at the dysfunction I've experience since a recent windows update. Was looped in a repair function, and I was able to restore. Now it powers on, fan runs but black screen and no keyboard function.

I've only used this notebook for about 2wks x 8 hrs . I didn't purchase a protection plan because...it was only intended for sporadic occasional use.... and, I guess I had confidence In the Acer name. I recently had a windows update automatically installed and nothing but problems followed. First the power on screen would loop and shut off and back on. My son fixed that for me some how, but soon after now have a power ligh that comes on, the fans run non stop, a completely dysfunctional keyboard and.....a black screen. Warranty ended July 2014 . My disappointment is unspeakable

    Sylvrfoxx0518,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with the notebook with such little use. I do have a couple questions so i can research this for you:

Do you see the Acer splash screen at all?

If so, have you tried running a refresh rather than a repair? It sounds like you might be getting to this screen, which should allow it.

Should the refresh fail, you can try a reset.

Thank you so kindly for your time Justin. When I push the power button the light comes on and the fans seem to turn on almost immediately but other than that, nothing else functions. I see nothing other than a black screen. I don't understand how I could run anything when nothing functions. I know that it couldn't possibly be clogged with dust as someone suggested, nor has it been misused or dropped. I have only set up iTunes and A few other popular apps, but never anything that could infect the Acer with a virus. So i really am stuck here...

    Sylvrfoxx0518,

I've sent you a PM in regards to this to see if there is anything I can do to help you out with this.

Hi I think I have the same problem can you possibly help me out too? I've shined a light at the screen to see if there is any possible image and there's nothing visible just the power light coming on and that's it. Tried connecting to another screen and no luck there either.

    Sipez89,

I apologize for the delayed response, I've been out of office on business.

If you have connected an external monitor and nothing is showing up on it when powering the notebook on there is a larger issue, possibly the mainboard.
