When I try to turn it on I'll just get a black screen. The fan will start but will stop eventually. When I try to hard reset it it won't turn off the fan will just start again. I have to plug out the AC so I can be able to power it again. And also last thing I remember is that the clock is not always on sync whenever I start it. Please help! Smiley Sad

    Hello,

You have probably a DC connector issue. I suggest you to clean it after removing the battery.

The CMOS battery voltage is too low. You have to change it.

Have you tried to connect it to an external monitor?

Thank you for your reply. So replacing the CMOS will solve the clock issue.

About the extrenal monitor is it for checking if my screen is working?

The screen is working. I'm using it right now. But when I shut this down It will be hard to boot again.

  • Hello,

The replacement of the CMOS battery will solve the date and boot issues.

I have replace the CMOS battery with new one and it did'nt solve the boot issue.

Before I replace the CMOS it has a chance of starting up. When I hold down the power button and the lights turns on and when the lights goes off after a few seconds of holding down the power button it will successfully boot the next attempt. And when the lights won't go off after holding down the power button it will not boot.

  • Hello,

Have you already changed the battery or/and the AC adapter?

    Is it the original battery?

  • Hello,

The date is it always "wrong"?

Could you give me the actual bios version?

I think the bios is corrupted.

The date and time sync is fixed now after I replace the CMOS battery with a new one.

    The BIOS version is v1.09

  • Hello,

You can flash the bios with the version 1.11 (1.09 unavailable on the Acer website).

Flash only the bios under DOS. If you need a procedure, tell me.

Yes can you tell me how to do it. Thanks!

  • Hello,

I give you the procedure to flash your bios under MS-DOS (Aspire 4551G - Bios 1.11):

To flash the bios under MS-DOS:

1- Make a DOS Bootable USB Flash Drive (see note) with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool

2- Download the bios folder zipped and unzip it.

3- Copy all files and folders on the USB flash drive.

4- Boot on the USB flash drive (see the note).

5- When you are under MS-DOS, type the command BIOS.BAT

6- If it's flashing successfully, reboot your system (normally, it reboot automatically).

7- Enter on the bios setup utility, "Load optimazed defaults" or "Load default settings"

    8- Save and Exit

--- If you have a doubt, do not hesitate to ask me questions ---

In you case when you'll be in the boot menu [F12], wait one minute to see if your laptop is stable.

    Note:

HP: By default, Letter C --> you'll see it like a HDD or USB HDD

    USB Flash Drive: 2Gb maxi

You can also use Rufus (IronFly info) - Select MS-DOS - Watch this video.

After step 5 I will get a message that says "DC Does not exist!"

  • Hello,

    In BIOS.BAT:

    echo Notice:
echo 1. This procedure may replace your BIOS!
echo    If you don't want to do it, press Ctrl-C to cancel.
echo 2. Make sure you plug in the AC adapter before flashing BIOS.
echo    If not, DO NOT flash!
echo 3. This utility will check if the battery capacity is over 30%.
echo    If not, it will stop to flash the BIOS.

    Have you installed the battery?

Yes I've put back the battery and able to update the BIOS to v1.11

    And still the problem exist.

When the AC is connected it won't boot.

And if I put the battery and AC together it still won't boot.

But when I remove the AC and leave only the battery it will start up normally.
