My 5517 will not turn on.

in 2015 Archives

The fan comes on for 2 seconds and the DVD cycles, then nothing. Power Switch light stays on and battery charging light is on.

    Try doing a power reset.

    Thank you Coqui13. I have tried the power reset, but it doesn't work. Before the "hard failure" the laptop would do this once or twice then come on normally. I thought it might be the CMOS battery but the test of the fan and DVD R/W indicate that computer is starting into the BIOS routine and that would mean (to me) that the CMOS battery is OK. This could be faulty thinking on my part!
