Free up space

Hi to all in the forums.

I have an Acer Extensa 5620Z.

The 'C' drive is at its capacity[max is 35 GB] so I was wondering if it would be possible to remove/free up space on the 'D' drive which uses 34.6 GB and has 99% free space.

Could some kind person suggest the most suitable form.

Thank you.

    Hi philetus

Many thanks for your partitioning software suggestion.

I will take a close look at it along with a couple of others.

    Hi philetus

Thanks for asking - but dont laugh - still on XP.

I have just over 5 GB left and although I appreciate there are losts and lots of files on it, the laptop is not bloated with software progs I dont use.

I clean the system at least once a week.

I have tried to use an external HD but I find it very awkward for my usage as I am often out of the house/office with the laptop.

I have considered full clean instal with refomat of the HD, then go over to Linux.

Apart from Office, I use free stuff for everything.

I may also consider just putting XP on a partition so I can still use the office stuff.  It should not take up half my HD.

  • You can use this:

     http://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmanager/partition-for-windows-xp-32bit.html

to resize your partitions. It's free.
