Ferrari 1005 vibration/noise

My Ferrari has started vibrating at start up. Noise probably from cooling fan, but its shakes the whole computer so Hard drive cannot read, at worst resulting in message "No operating system".

With patience and holding computer to minimise vibration it will load but very slowly. Vibration eventually stops and system then functions normally. Sometimes multiple starts are needed before vibration stops.

If I can wait machine runs as well as ever. Gets hot but it always did.

If the problems is the fan, is it practical to replace it? Machine is obviously old but still works fine in every other way.

There is no way for us to tell, definitively, what the problem is from your description.

I doubt that the system thermal module, over the CPU, would be causing excessive vibration, but it could be possible.

My suggestion would be to remove the hard drive and turn the system on.

If there is no vibration immediately, as you state above, then it would be likely that the hard drive itself is causing the issue.

I replaced hard drive with a brand new one.

Seemed OK for a while, then the noise started again, eventually causing hard drive read errors.

Only thing which may have brought the noise back was that I was carrying it to and from work every day. At home it hardly gets moved, so maybe movement is a factor
