Hi - I have a V5-571, same issue dropping the wireless connection as everyone else unsurprisingly ![]()
Only just found this forum and registered and going to try to driver updates tonight BUT looking for the drivers on Acers website it seems there is a newer wireless lan adapter driver than 10.0.0.217, its 10.0.0.225 posted on 18th March. has anyone tried that yet and did you have any success?
Cheers
Andy

Crossing my fingers, but after struggling with the wifi since I bought my Acer Aspire v5-571P in early February, the first time I have had a stable connection anywhere is after I updated my network drivers from the 10.0.0.217v3 drivers to the 10.0.0.255 drivers earlier today. It has been at least 3 hours of near constant use since my connection has dropped. I experienced limited connectivity every 5-10 minutes before the update, even after trying many, many different things to fix the connection less shipping it back to the manufacturer as Acer support had suggested was my next step. Factory reset, old drivers, new drivers, router configurations, different locations, ect. Nothing worked until now. I just wish I would have known there was a driver update available earlier.

LOL, it worked for me after I downgraded drivers from 10.0.0.225 to 10.0.0.217. No more intermittent drop of internet connection.

Same issues, no solutions, have had laptop for less than a month, support no help, only offered to have me mail them machine, warned me my data may be lost (meaning they WILL do a factory reset/reinstall!), and I spent days trying multiple steps to resolve, asked that they send someone out to replace Atheros WiFi adapter, said no on-site service! IF I purchase an extended warranty, they will provide on-site service.
How, may one ask, would ANYONE suggest, recommend, offoer advice to anyone to want to purchase such a nightmare laptop if these solutions are still unresolved, and quite frankly, even if they replaced the WiFi card with the same brand, most likely one might still have the same issues. Like when we all know that alternate replacements are solutions.
Because I cannot return to MicroCenter (over 15 days) and because Acer will not replace or refund anything, I'm stuck, my reputation is tarnished (I suggested my client buy), and now customer has to be hard wired 24x7 for connectivity.
So do I live with that, wait for warranty to expire, rip it open replace with an alternate card, sell it, fight, or just have a stroke?

WiFi driver 10.0.0.217 fix anybody's intermittent failure problem?

There is no drivers fixing problem right now (they have release 251). There is a solution that I posted here that requires a little hardware work.
Guys who hadn't problem with V3 or V5 lines, have just been lucky because the disconnetions problem does not appear with all routers and in all circunstances. For the rest of the people, the posted is the only solution working until now.
