Wellit looks like they have found the problem and have issed a sotra fix. The problem with this is, if you go into the BIOS before applying the upgrade, you're basically stuffed. Would it not be better to at least recall the system that have been produced with the old BIOS version?

Looks like the next R7 'G' model will have the GTX850M GPU! \o/ As long as it's the GDDR5 version, that'll be an excellent gaming laptop.

seems you are right.... And ddr5 ![]()
BTW can anyone confirm the new BIOS actually fixes the problem? Also no word from Acer here yet about the issue since the update was put online. We had to find out ourselves the update was made available...

Can't confirm it, as the laptop is still out for repair. Today is the twentieth working day since they received the system, so, I shall be calling them to get this case escalated. They told me that if they haven't received the part y twenty working days then I have to call to get the case passed on to the escalations team who will reveiw withing two working days and the laptop may get swapped out for a new one.
So we'll see, though why I should have to call to get this to happen I cant see the reason for, I would have thought if that is their rules, then this is something that should happen sutomatically from their end.

OK so I bought an Acer Aspire R7-572 (Refurb from Acer Outlet cause I'm cheap) on 3/30/2014 (Mfg date 11/11/2013) and I liked it so much that I bought a second one on 5/18/2014 (Mfg date 12/7/2013) (same retailer).
I exited the BIOS without saving on the second R7 (Newest purchase and Mfg date)---BRICK!!!@#%&*$#.![]()
Then I read this thread!
I booted the 1st R7 and it has a BIOS of 2.01.
I will wait until the other R7 is replaced before I try to update the BIOS on any of them so that I can maintain at least one working computer.
Way to not fix or notify about a problem Acer!!!![]()
