This thread has some more information including the name of the software (Sensor and KB Application):
I do see a slightly older version available on the Acer Support web site, under downloads for the R7-571.
It is version 1.01.1013 vs. 1.01.1019 on my machine. No way of knowing if it is compatible with the new model or not.
Also I found a folder on my drive named "C:\OEM\Preload\Autorun\SET\Sensor and KB Application". In it there is a file named EzelSensorBehavior_x64.msi which matches the name of the file in the 571 support downloads.

Kudos to you, greg1, and thanks for the suggestion re the alternate driver. It does appear to have installed in fine fashion and the EzelAgent and EzelSvc processes are running, but still no flip action. The advice provided by the "Acer Technician" in the thread you referenced is obviously useless (saw that one before), as he claims the "microsoft app takes over" and does the job of flipping absent the Acer software. Clearly it does not do so.
Two things, greg1, if you have a moment: can you confirm for us that your screen flip action works properly without flaw, and do you have a hot spot on the back side of your screen to the right of the webcam as I do? I'm sorely tempted to return this, as I believe I may have a dud.

Screen auto-rotate (flip) works fine, and there is no hot spot on the back of the screen. You can lock the screen to prevent the auto-rotation via Charms -> Settings -> Screen. If that is not locked, then it does seem that you have a hardware defect which could be related to the hot spot.

Took it back to Best Buy and they exchanged it for a new R7 painlessly. They immediately agreed the hotspot was NOT normal, they screen should be flipping, and the screen should not be redrawing even subtely. I already have the new SSD in and everything is as it should be: screen is auto-rotating without the Ezel software, so my apologies to the Acer Technician who did indeed get it right in stating Windows would handle the task natively. Bottom line: everything is working great. Thanks again.

Excellent, glad to hear you are back in business. I recently had a similarly great experience with a TV warranty exchange at Best Buy and was glad that I had purchased the original there.

I have the Older Model 571 which I belive has the same set up.
In the 571 I have a 24gb flash/cache unlike the newer model.
1. Can I put in Samsung EVO 250gb 2.5"?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8
2. And is that the best solution?
Should I/Can I, put in a smaller size/format SSD/flash and maintain the old HDD?
baffled
thx.

Only you know the *best* solution...
For my 572, I installed a "mSata" ssd drive for WIndows and left my 1tb 2.5" drive for storage, best of both worlds.
To do that on yours you'd have to remove/replace the small ssd "cache" drive with something larger (128gb+) and boot from that.
Again, it's your pref and budget!

One of the issues with the 572 (and likely 571) is sleep/hibernate. Windows 8 has "hibernate" off by default. So when the laptop sleeps it still uses a little power. That's why you close the lid and come back in 2 days with the battery low. It was in "sleep/standby" mode that whole time and using power. Enabling hibernate is one way to fix this. HERE is a little guide showing how to do that in Win8.
However, what we REALLY need is BIOS support for Intel Rapid Start, which is MUCH better than Windows hibernate. The 571 model had it. Come on Acer, bring back Rapid Start to the 572. Some of us run ssd and can really use it!

Well, right now my R7-572 boots up from a "cold" start (powered off, not sleeping) to sign-in in about 6 seconds. Fast Startup is enabled by default in Windows 8, which takes advantage of the always on hybernation feature. As an MS employee who was involved in the Win8 dev team explained it to me, Windows 8 "never turns off," which is why it boots up so much faster than any previous version of Windows, moreso with an SSD. I don't know how much faster Intel Rapid Start would make my R7 (I have it in my Dell XPS and on or off it appears to make no difference). Six seconds is pretty good.
My first R7 suffered an electrical short which drained the battery and produced a "hot spot" in the lid area. Maybe a fire hazard as well, but it went back defective. My current system is working great.
