I confirm that this doesn't work. I have updated to the latest drivers, Wifi AND Bluetooth are on and this laptop still varies between being okay and a paperweight.

It doesn't.

Tried that. It doesn't work. I also have the latest drivers, blah blah blah. I'm yet to find a solution that is, in fact, a solution.

I think updating the driver has fixed my issue.
*recap on what my issue was:
Every day on first boot of the day WiFi worked fine. If the Netbook (AOD270) was shut down, and then restarted some time later in that same day, there was a likely chance that the WiFi would connect to the network, but with limitd access and no internet access.
Rebooting the router (TP-Link TL-WR841N) solved the connection issues, and when it came back online, the Netbook would re-establish connection, and have full internet access.
It seems the item at fault was the router, beause rebooting that fixed it. I could not fix the issue in Win7 software on the netbook. Disabling and re-enabling the network device, or showing the WiFi password..nothing worked.
I looked around for the updated driver, came accross it here on the Czech site:
http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.ph
Downloaded, unpacked, and pointed the System Properties > Hardware > Wireless Network Device > Driver > Update driver to the location of the .ini file.
Job done, seems like now more WiFi issues on this netbook. I've tried different booting over the last couple of days, no hitches at all ![]()
My netbook:
Aspire One D270 26Dkk
Windows 7 starter
Wireless device Atheros AR5B125

Really? I don't think it is software problem.
It is hardware problem that the internet wifi keep dropping. Only Acer give such problems.

I, too, have an Acer V5 laptop with Windows 8. I don't have this "Atheros" driver, to my knowlege. I have wifi. It's via a Rosewill8C19A4, I have no problems with connectivity with my other devices, but I get limitted connection every 10 minutes or so with my Acer laptop that messes up my Skype calls and live streaming. It's annoying. Is there a service tech support with Acer that I can call?

I have a V3-571 and have tried all possible solutions but nothing works. Let me put this as simply as I can, DO NOT BUY AN ACER LAPTOP. This is my first and last. Acer do not answer, their support is shameful and they only respond on premium lines. I HAVE GIVE UP AND WILL NOW BUY ANOTHER LAPTOP. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY ACER AND WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

I had the same problem with my Acer Aspire V3–771. I‘ve tried all possible solutions posted in this and other forums as well. After I tried everything possible, my colleague responsible for our company‘s IT issues (he was aware of my problems) gave me the last advise he could think of - to change the router to a more modern one. He stated some technical reasons for doing that, can’t remember exactly but think it was WLAN standard problem – my router had older standard types like 802.11 b/g and no 802.11 n and though it is said that Acer works with b/g/n, it needed that newest N standard for good working internet.
I remember something similar was mentioned in router manual, it sounded smth like “new laptops have new modern 11b/g/n wifi adapter so for best results it‘s beter to have router with the newest WLAN 802.11 n" and named some similar examples of internet problems because of different router and PC wifi standards.
Have to say that my 4 years old Dell or 2 years old HP were working really fine with the router I had (b/g standard), still I asked my internet provider for a more developed one. So I changed my router and had no problems ever since! Everything is working well for more than 6 months.
So my advise would be- update Acer wifi drivers (though I left driver not of Acer origin, I downloaded it earlier trying to fix the problem but it didn’t help then) and try other routers with more developed characteristics.
Of course, at first, be sure that problem is not because of you haven’t unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" box in the Device Manager.
Hope it helps.

We want to encourage discussion and we generally do not like to lock or remove threads. With that said, I am going to lock this thread as it was started over a year ago, and every few weeks someone has found it and posted. We want the community to be able to assist if you're having problems, but a generic wireless connectivity thread is not an effective method for asking or receiving support.
Between all of the different parts involved in bringing a wireless signal to a computer the hardware, Acer (or any other mfg) hardware plays just one role. From your ISP and their infrastructure to the wiring in your home, the modem, a router, Windows, all play a role.
We understand sometimes issue happen and Acer hardware or the settings can part of the problem with your wireless connectivity. If you are having issues, please remember you can contact your local service team, locate a thread for users who have the same issue with a similar model or create your own thread. Providing as much detail as possible on the issue is important because what unit you have, what OS you have are important to getting the support you are looking for.
Remember to mark posts that resolved your issue with Accept as Solution. You can even mark multiple posts in a single thread. This will make it easier for others to find the same information. Use the Give Kudos button to offer a thumbs-up for good post content and a pat on the back to the author.
